So, I've managed to be pretty much away from the Internet over the last week. What with the snow/ice and a rather hectic week at work I've only really had time to watch the Internet and not actually do anything myself.
So, now it's Christmas Day and my mum has got Christmas Dinner down and I'm just waiting for the water to get hot enough for a shower, I thought I'd finally get online and say stuff.
1) My cards are written, but, as you may have noticed they haven't actually gone anywhere yet. I will post them the next time I'm at work (Tuesday) so they'll definitely be New Year cards.
2) Dr Who in T minus seven hours. On the one had I cannot wait, on the other, I really don't want the DT era to come to an end.
3) Apparently it's only 22C on Bondi Beach in Australia.
4) I have several people to thank for cards and presents. I got cards and chocolate from
thisissirius,
krazykipper and
seektheinfinite at Camelot Christmas. And I also got a card and fic from someone there. I was so excited about the fic (which is awesome and about Merlin not getting why Arthur was excited about the snow (in that Arthur way of his)) that I completely didn't pay attention to who I should have hugged to within an inch of their life. Also, I was making sure everyone around me got to read it too *g*
I got cards from
miranda_skye,
drjenny88,
anjak_j and
rowanceleste. *hugs you all*
berlinghoff79, the card was awesome and the boys are more than fine. Love them *g*
anyanka_eg - wow. Just wow. That was awesome and cool and cute and adorable. All those little stories were amazing and perfect. I particularly liked the Woolsey and Teyla one. And the Ronon one. And the John/Rodney one. Ah, screw it. I loved them all. Thank you SO much, hon. I loved it.
And I got fic written for me by
bluflamingo which is Lorne and Cadman friendship and is made of awesome. I SO love the friendship between those two as
bluflamingo writes it. It's awesome and it rocks and it just makes so much sense. It's
here and I think everyone should go and tell her how awesome this and her other ficlets are.
erda_3 OMG! I got the package yesterday, right before I had to shoot (read: slide - thanks ice) to work. A Brilliant selection of books. Thank you so much. I'm particularly excited about the Sherlock Holmes because I've been thinking about buying it for ages. And also The Once and Future King. I might have squealed slightly when I saw that. And Dean Kootz is someone I've been meaning to read for ages and so that was perfect. Thank you so much, again. Wonderful.
5) I got a card from someone at work that was Father Christmas being interviewed and he's saying 'I don't like to be called Father Christmas - I prefer to be known as a 'festive spirit consultant'...
It made me laugh lots.
6) I've been getting really into a couple of TV shows over the last week or so and the snow has really helped because I've had lots of time to watch them and get quite involved.
Sons of Anarchy was something I'd heard about vaguely but when Mo Ryan over at the
over at the Chicago Tribune recommended it, I decided to give it ago. And it's bloody brilliant. I'm on about episode nine of season one and it just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to get to season two. I've not yet got around to looking for any SoA fanfic, but, thinking about it, I might go and do that now.
I watched season one of Friday Night Lights a while ago and then immediately got seasons two and three sent over from the US, unable to wait until we finally got them on DVD in the UK. And then I promptly didn't watch them. Which was remarkably stupid, seeing as I went through season two in less than three days and am already a couple of episodes into season three. I love and adore this show.
I love and adore and love some more Eric and Tami's marriage. It's possibly my favourite marriage on TV ever. I just. It's so obvious how much they still love each other. They support each other. They compromise. They have arguments. They make up. There is no huge drama or the idea that at any moment their marriage could go up in smoke and I love it so much.
Kyle Chandler is pretty much awesome. I love Eric SO much. Him and Castle are the two dads on TV I'm kind of going 'Him as a dad would be the coolest' and it so would be. Also, there is the possibility that I might actually understand the rules of American Football because I suspect you can't be in the Taylor household and not know the rules.
I kind of adore Herc. That is all.
Street is just wonderful. He's about the only character (within the teenagers because Eric and Tami have never been even close to being hated, even for a moment) I haven't hated or at least disliked at some point on another in the show.
Riggins. Can I have one please? I love him SO much. SO much. SO SO much. I'm thinking you get where I'm going with this. I think the moment when I totally fell for him was when he protected Julie at that party and told the guy hitting on her just how much Tim would hurt him if he even looked at her again. And then the way he got her home and into bed and then took the blame when Coach walked into Julie's room and completely got the wrong idea.
I had a vague knowledge that people shipped Tim/Julie but I couldn't quite understand why and then I watched the episodes of Tim living with the Taylor's and I got it in a New York Minute. I have been eating up the Tim/Julie fics out there and have been so happy that many of them have been multi-chaptered and, for the most part, bloody good.
Although I must admit what I want is a fic where they are just friends. Real close friends. Nothing else (or at least not until they are both out of high school or something) and people in the town just won't believe it because Tim protects her and glares at any guy who even looks at Julie and all the guys know that Julie is an off limits topic for locker room talk but they still tease him about it bit.
Actually, there is one a bit like that. It's going to end up as Julie/Tim but it starts out making them really close friends >a href="
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4498178/1/Sleeping_Habits">Sleeping Habits. I'm pretty much in love with this fic at the moment and can't wait for it to be updated.
In it Julie has nightmares because of the tornado that hit the grocery store and she starts sleeping talking and sleeping with Tim who's on the Taylor's couch. It's hilarious and sweet and Julie rocks and Tim is adorable and sweet and impulsive. In fact I love everything about it. I also love the fact that Eric regards Tim as better than a chastity belt for Julie. Hilarious.
Although I do completely hate Lyla. I just don't get why Jason and Tim get so hung up on her. She's selfish, self-righteous, judgemental and self absorbed. I get that she's pretty, but that's about it.
But regardless, I love this show.
7) The Gruffalo is also on today, before Dr Who. I recommend watching that, too.
8) Why is my mum's bathroom the coldest room in the house? I really don't appreciate it.
9) Everyone have a great day. I love you all. No doubt I'll be back on later this evening to see everyone's reactions to Dr Who *g*
Till then, guys *hugs*
