Surprise surprise... I got no call back from the computer shop... so I now have no refund and no motherboard for my athlon. I faxed the store written notice since it appears the owner wasn't or isn't going to call me back.

I am so annoyed that he tried to blame my power supply as killing the mainboard, which is a load of bull. I tried to point out the fact that the loaner board I used for a few days was returned and still working, which kinda blows the theory about the psu as the issue out of the water. I think he is just trying to put the blame on something else.

I submitted a complaint to the Dept. of Fair Trading. Hopefully they can contact the company and get some resolution for me. I'd be happy to take another new board (however this time I'd hope it comes in a box with manual, back plate etc. Unlike the last one). I'd also hope they tried to atleast give me a board nearer the value of my original one, rather then giving me a $115 board with no firewire support. Considering they never called me back today after the fax, I am guessing it will take the Dept. of Fair Trading to sort this out. Here's hoping they do. If I do get a refund, I think I will go buy another brand board (from a different shop). Will totally avoid zip computers from now on, and will not be recommending them.

Traffic home today wasn't so bad. It's different to be not catching the train these days. After catching a train to/from work for the last 10 years, its a nice change to be driving to work. The traffic is bad in the sense it takes the sametime as it would to catch the train, it just means I don't have to put up with cityrail and excuses. I now leave work and just go get in the car and drive home. No rushing for a train. At the moment, we still only have the one car. Still very much looking forward to Subaru Liberty Wagon delivery. It would be nice to get the call on the 20th of September advising me they now have a confirmed date for delvery, rather then just saying end of September. Guess we will cross our fingers and wait for the good news.

Still learning the ropes at work. They are kicking off some more training soon and that should get me upto speed pretty quickly. At the moment I just been amusing myself with lots of online training in regards to the application and hardware we support.

During the course of the evening ctd asked if I wanted to be on planet.slug.org.au, as he realised I had a journal which I update from time to time. So hello all the slug people. After all these years of hanging around slug mail lists from time to time, I might eventually make a meeting and various other events.

Well with my PC dead, atleast I still have my powerbook. And the joy of wireless.
