i went to look for another section of trellis so i'd have 4 panels to make some sort of screen around my bee box so the neighbors don't freak. i also needed some waterproofing sealer so the cheap wood doesn't just rot away in one summer. ended up wandering into the greenhouse and picking up a huge bag of regular potting soil for flowers and baskets, and 2 smaller bags of organic potting soil for the herbs/berries i may end up putting in pots. i was planning to go up to valley view farms after i picked up the trellis and waterproofer in search of an american wisteria vine, but to my shock, they had them at home depot. for $20 less. i WANT to support local businesses. i REALLY do. but it didn't make sense to drive an additional 30 minutes to spend more money on something that was right in front of me. side note, i DID happen to walk out of a home depot last weekend with 2 $30 rolls of landscape edging that i hadn't paid for in my cart by "forgetting to put it back on the shelf" after the girl scanned it and i decided $30 was too much to pay for that shit. i went and got 2 rolls of the cheap stuff, got rung up, noticed that the stuff i wanted was still in my cart, and decided to do a little acting if the security sensor went off when i walked out of the garden center. it didn't, so yeah, i'm a big old shoplifter. maybe that makes up for not supporting local businesses b/c i'm cheap and busy?
tonight i'm going to waterproof the trellis and hopefully figure out how i'm going to rig it up to provide maximum privacy for the bees in a way that my neighbor john and the wisteria will be happy with, too.
