Christmas and the new year.

My Gran has clearly lost it almost completely this last year and one small glass of sherry was just about enough it turns out to tip 'annoying and repetitive' into down right confused.
A couple of the things she came out with over the course of boxing day:

(While seated around the dining table across from Tom and I - said to my grandad in what was probably supposed to be a whisper)
'Is that Kate and her Tom? (yes) Do you think they're going to get married?'
Grandad (laughing): 'Perhaps you should ask Tom'

'The cats don't mind the disabled bread do they?'

Etc...  Cause if you didn't laugh you'd cry.  At least she seems happy.

2011

Still living in southend it seems - for some time to come apparently.
Pros:  Good jobs, close to london, nice house, made some friends here.
Cons: Rubbish social life, miss Bristol and the friends we have there like mad.

Resolution (if you can call it that) we're never going to meet any proper geeks through work.  I'm going to try and do a bit of geek networking around here but i'm not optimistic.  I think my resoltuion should be to visit Bristol and London people more and be more organised in general.
Also - here is an open invite to anyone who wants to visit!  We'd be delighted to see you.  If any Bristol types wish to meet in London of a weekend i'd be more than up for that as well.  Especially these apply to anyone wanting to visit on my monday/tuesdays off - i get them every 6 weeks and am always bored.

Things done to the house this year:
Decorated livingroom/diner, study, guest bedroom and master bedroom.
Installed central heating.
Fixed much of the completely insane wiring.
Bought furniture, made curtains.

Things left to do this year:
Plaster and decorate hall.
Plaster kitchen remove crap tiles, retile, get new counter tops and sink or possibly new kitchen entirely!
Carpet upstairs
Install wood flooring downstairs - and i've been thinking recently that tiling the kitchen floor might be nicer than wood and cheaper too?

Lastly i ordered some new bedding from jonh lewis in the sale - 400 thread count pima cotton - very luxurious.  I made the bed this morning when it arrived today.... who got to sleep in it first?.......  Komoku.
