But alcohol and boredom had conspired against him and one morning he woke up next to Tora, thoroughly satisfied and not really minding the arm tightening protectively around him when he tried to move

*giggles delightfully over adorable image and memory of other adorable scene like that in Aroma*

...
*goes back to clinging to Aki with kicked-puppy eyes*

Yes, I am mean to poor little Aki... He got what he asked for and then a lot. *sigh* But at the same time I feel bad for Tora too, because he never wanted to hurt Aki in the first place but was little short of forced to. That's when the trust went out the window and...well...yeah, everything went to hell.

I think it's just as much the thing that he didn't WANT to hurt, as that he didn't understand the CONCEPT of masochism ( ... )

You, you are very right in that Tora didn't understand the concept of masochism. All he could see was the pain, not the pleasure, and the fact he was inflicting it, not the trust Aki put in him. But it was the fact he didn't want to hurt that lead to him taking out his inner anger on Aki, when Aki refused to listen to and accept Tora's dislike of being forced into the role of a sadist. Had Aki not pushed as hard as he did, he might've been able to teach Tora what sadomasochism is really about, teach him the delicate balance of it, in a way they both were okay with it. In many ways Aki failed Tora just as much as Tora failed Aki, and I think the consequences they got from it were equally severe, with the difference of Aki's being physical and Tora's mental ( ... )

Whether or not Kenzo would've been able to hurt Aki at one point, he wouldn't now. He was what Aki went through with Tora and how bad an outcome it had, physically as well as emotionally, there is just no way he could hurt Aki himself after that. It would bring back too many painful memories for Kenzo himself, not to mention he'd be afraid to lose control the way Tora did.

I think it's very important to keep stories apart yes. You can have an idea of what characters alike, I sure do and a writer has to write really well for me to accept certain behaviours in certain characters, but to think of Aki, Kenzo, Tora and Pon here like the characters from Learning (a story I love to bits and pieces) becomes very misguiding for those characters as well as the characters in Broken Bonds and Healing Balms. They are two very different sets of characters, with different stories and different reactions. So no, I definitely don't think Kenzo could cause Aki pain in this story, not even the kind he knows Aki wants, or at least wanted before.

...good point

and yeah, I know I know =w= I'm well aware that it's a bad habit, and I try not to, but sometimes (especially when I'm tired) I just... mess it all up =w=
