Wed, Dec 3 - Ginny & Draco talk

Jun 01, 2007 18:21

Who: Ginny & Draco
When: Wednesday, December 3 - after dinner
WHere: A quiet corner of the library
What: After finding out from Sven that Ginny still has feelings for him, he confronts her.

*Ginny*
She sat at a table back by the restricted section, charms books spread out before her as she chewed on her quill, legs tucked up under her and humming quietly to a weird sisters song.

*Draco*
He stepped out of the Restricted Section and quickly pulled out a chair beside her.
"We need to talk."

*Ginny*
She looked up startled.
"About what?" she asked, looking at Draco curiously.
"Is everything okay," she asked, setting her quill down.

*Draco*
He gave her a look. Something that tried to be poised, confident, and dangerously attractive but fell just short.
"Sven says you still have feelings for me, is this true?"

*Ginny*
Her face flushed.
"I'm going to kill that blond.. ugh!" she said, grinding her teeth in frustration.

*Draco*
"Is. It. True?"
He reiterated, calmly and slowly like he was talking to a five year old.

: *Ginny*
"Maybe," she muttered.
"Doesn't matter though. You're with Pansy."

*Draco*
He rolled his eyes.
"I asked you a sodding question, can I get a straight answer if it's not too much trouble, please?"

*Ginny*
She huffed out a sigh.
"Yes. Alright? Yes. I still like you. Still maybe love you. And for unknown reason, still want to be with you. Happy?" she asked, getting to her feet and gathering her books, avoiding Draco's eyes. Now he'd ruined her studying. Who did he think he was? Coming here and asking questions like this while he was dating Pansy.

*Draco*
He looked her in the eyes.
"Why?"

*Ginny*
"I don't know why," she said with a sigh. "Because I do, alright. Because I never stopped loving you.."

*Draco*
"That's it?" He looked disbelieving. "That's all? Just you do?"

*Ginny*
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Do you want me to list all the reasons I fell in love with you? What about you? What do you feel for me?"

*Draco*
"Seeing as how I'm suffering from kind of a low ebb in my popularity yes, I wouldn't mind some rational explanation!"
He glared.
"I don't know what I feel for you. I do know that I miss you."

*Ginny*
"Love isn't rational, Draco," she said, biting her lip and reaching out to caress his cheek with her hand.
"I miss you too.." she said quietly.

*Draco*
"There's no sane reason you should either love or miss me... No one else does."

*Ginny*
"Maybe I'm not sane then. But other people don't know you the way I did.." she said as she chewed on her lip.
"You were my everything, Draco. I loved you. I still do. Feelings like that don't just go away because I'm locked up at my aunt's house for months.."

*Draco*
"I needed you and you left me, without a trace. You left me. Not the other way around."
He wished she'd stop chewing on her lip, it was kind of cute.

*Ginny*
"It wasn't my choice to leave you!" she hissed quietly, fisting her hands in her hair.
"My mother and my aunt forced me. Locked me away. Couldn't write to anyone Draco. I missed you. Every single day I missed you! And now, I'm here, trying to be strong and independent and not care when all I really want is to be with you," she said chewing on her lip and telling herself not to cry.

*Draco*
"I needed you. The one person in my life who was warm and funny and intelligent and strong... And I had no friends, no family and no nothing... Nothing but Pansy. She was there for me, you weren't. And... and if I didn't miss you so much that'd be enough."

: *Ginny*
She bit her lip harder. She wouldn't cry. She wouldn't.
"But I'm here now. I miss you. I want you. I like.. I love you," she said quietly.
"Isn't that enough to break up with Pansy?"

*Draco*
"Maybe... I... I don't know... You shouldn't be with me."

*Ginny*
"Why not? Because you're evil and an ass? You're not evil. You're an ass sometimes, but so are most people.." she said.
"But it's up to you. Maybe missing me isn't enough.."

*Draco*
He shook his head.
"I'll break you and hurt you and you'll grow to hate me. You're better off without me."

*Ginny*
"Need I remind you that I already dated you? You didn't hurt me and I don't hate you," she said, shaking her head.
"I'm better off like this? Trying to be independent, missing you like crazy, throwing myself at you time and time again just for the chance that I might succeed? Spending my nights with toys?"

*Draco*
He raised his voice.
"Yes, of course you are you stupid bi... wait, what was that about toys?"
[16:58] FllnAngel23: *Ginny*
She winced when she heard someone shush them loudly through the stacks.
She blushed bright red.
"Never mind," she said and she turned and tried to focus on getting her books together, fumbling as the tears stung at her eyes.

*Draco*
He sneered.
"Knew it. You don't love me, you're just horny."

*Ginny*
She cried out in frustration as she threw her books at the wall and spun around to face Draco, backing him towards the stacks as she advanced on him, fury in her eyes.
"Draco. Malfoy. Don't you EVER doubt my love for you. Yes, I'm a horny witch. I never recalled you complaining about this. But there was more than just sex. I loved you, Draco. I still do! I love you Draco Malfoy. I'd die for you, Draco. I'd do anything, don't you get that?" she snapped, her face inches away from his.

*Draco*
"No, I don't get that, I don't understand that... I don't do self-sacrifice and all that nonsense." Or did he. He'd come perilously close to it last year for all the good it did him. "I don't do love."

*Ginny*
"You did," she said.
"You certainly did last year," she said, breathing heavily as her face was inches from him.
"What do you do? What do you want? Why isn't Pansy enough?"

*Draco*
He stuttered.
"I... I don't know... She should be enough."

*Ginny*
"You're the one who said she wasn't. Why? Is it that you want more than just sex? That you want what we had last year?" she asked, liking her lips nervously.

*Draco*
"I..." He didn't want to admit it, it would be admitting weakness and he could not afford to be weak any more.
"...Maybe?"

*Ginny*
"Then dump her, Draco. End the stupid charade and let's work things out.." she said, hopeful as she breathed heavily.

*Draco*
He shook his head.
"I can't... we can't... you don't understand."

*Ginny*
"Why not? We managed last year?" she quietly, her eyes pleading with him.

*Draco*
"That was different and you know it."

*Ginny*
"Draco.. you're right, I don't understand," she said, closing the distance between them and leaning her head on his shoulder.
"You miss me, I miss you. You're not satisfied with Pansy, I want to be with you. I don't understand why it has to be different.. why we can't make it work. You and I... we said we'd get through anything.."

: *Draco*
He sighed, laying a hand on her back.
"I... I don't know.. I don't think that included everything we went through... Look... I'll... I'll think about it."

*Ginny*
She sighed, wanting more than just a non-committal answer, especially, when she'd so obviously declared her feelings for him.
"Right.." she said, not wanting to move. "Whatever you say."

: *Draco*
He relaxed a bit.
"Your family and friends hate me. And mine hates yours. This won't end well."

*Ginny*
"Did it ever occur to you that I don't want to be smothered by family? Especially after they kept me away from school, my friends and you?" she asked softly.
"Your father's dead.. what other family do you have? I mean, technically, we're distant family.."

*Draco*
He laughed.
"So you think incest is the cure for my woes?"

*Ginny*
She chuckled.
"We're not that closely related..." she said, refraining from making a comment about Addy.
"How do you I'm not the cure unless you try another dose of me?"

: *Draco*
"Look, I gave you my answer, Ginny... I.. I don't know what you want."

*Ginny*
"I want you. Thought I made that clear," she said pulling back and pressing the heel of her hand against her eyes as she went back to gathering her books. Who was she kidding, trying to force Draco to make a decision on his own. Maybe he had changed, maybe he wasn't the same person she'd fallen in love with.

*Draco*
"Yes, but in order to have a relationship. I have to want you too... And I''m not sure I do... Did you miss that or do I need to make myself more clear?"

*Ginny*
"I get it!" she snapped angrily, throwing a library book in his general direction and not caring that the librarian was calling something about having detention.
"You've satisfied your morbid curiosity, haven't you? Got the answer to your question. Shouldn't you go back to Pansy and your Slytherins?" she asked a bit harsher than she intended.

*Draco*
He nodded.
"Yeah, I should... go back to your Gryffindors... Get Harry away from that slutty American or something."

*Ginny*
She rolled her eyes.
"He's more of a pig headed ass than you are sometimes," she snapped, not thinking that trash talking Harry to Draco probably wasn't smart.
"So.. should I bother waiting for you to make up your mind?" she asked, looking pointedly away from Draco as she tossed her bag over her shoulder.

: *Draco*
"I made up my mind." He lied. "Do as you please. You don't want anything to do with me, trust me."

*Ginny*
She stopped what she was doing and looked at me.
"Can't believe you have the balls to lie to me. Can't believe you think I'd believe that. Don't tell me what I want. You're not Tom, you're not going to make me drown myself in the lake," she said before closing the space between them and taking his hand in hers.
"What happened, Draco?" she asked quietly. "You wouldn't be like this... this hostile, this worried about me unless something was wrong. Unless you cared what happened to me? Did you suddenly become the next Dark Lord and plan to kill everyone you've ever slept with?"

*Draco*
He laughed.
"That.. would be a woefully short list. Not really the sort of word dominating thing Dark Lords do."

*Ginny*
"You're avoiding.." she said simply.

*Draco*
"You noticed."

*Ginny*
"I did try to get to know you while we dated..." she said quietly.
"Let me help, Draco.." she said. "I meant what I said on Saturday... if there's anything you need.."

*Draco*
He nodded.
"Yeah, I'll.. I'll let you know."

*Ginny*
She smiled hopefully.
"So, no decision yet then?" she asked hopefully.

*Draco*
He made a face.
"It's been 30 bleeding seconds Weasley! Merlin's beard!"

*Ginny*
"Not that, you idiot! " she said chuckling.
"Just making sure you're taking back that lie of yours," she said softly.

: *Draco*
He made another face.
"What lie?"

: *Ginny*
"Tell me to go away and do as I please and not have anything to do with you?" she said.

*Draco*
He gave her a look.
"Why would I do that?"

*Ginny*
"Why would you tell me to go away? Because you're scared of falling in love. You're scared of something you won't admit..."

*Draco*
He sighed.
"Gods, you're frustrating."

*Ginny*
"So are you? Do you think I chose to be pining over a Slytherin?" she asked.
"You're not Mister Easy to understand yourself, Draco."

*Draco*
He rubbed his temples.
"I give you headaches like this?"

*Ginny*
She swallowed hard.
"You make me cry," she whispered.

*Draco*
He nodded.
"That won't stop if we get together."

*Ginny*
"But then at least I'll have you.. and then.. well.. it makes things easier.. having you.." she said, feeling like she was making a fool of herself and grasping at straws.

*Draco*
"You... You need to stop punishing yourself for whatever you think you did wrong..."

: *Ginny*
"What? I'm not punishing myself.." she said, crossing her arms across her chest.

: *Draco*
"I think you are... But... just let me think,. ok?"

: *Ginny*
She looked at him, more confused than when he found her.
"Right. I need to go kill Sven," she said, making sure she had all her things before starting to leave their little corner of the library.

*Draco*
He laughed and watched her walk away.
"That might be the best idea you've had all day."
