About Insignificant Me and My Vaguely Unhealthy Anime Obsession
Not too happy with school right now. Three exams next week and that damned group skit...which has lost 2 members leaving us 3 remaining schmucks to try to pick up the pieces. Woe. Sadly haven't had time to work on fics. Maybe this weekend...
And as always, I'm going to blow money to make myself feel better. Rightstuf.com has the first volumes of Fruits Basket and Twelve Kingdoms on sale... Also has anyone seen Strawberry Eggs (I Me My!)? Or just wishes to speculate on whether it'd be worth buying?
Firsts:
When did you first "discover" anime?: Define discover. My favorite shows when I was little were Maple Town and Nickeloedeon's old Fairy Tale Theater. My favorite movies were the Unico movies. All anime. But I did not realize it until I was in the ninth grade when I noticed the company name stamped on my old Maple Town toys was Toei...the same name listed in the credits of Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon was the first anime I knew was anime. Because it aired here in the morning while I was at school, I first saw it over a period of three days when I was sick in the fifth grade. The three episodes I saw? The final two of the first season and the first ep of the Doom Tree arc. I never forgot it even though I didn't see it again until the summer before ninth grade when CN started airing them.

Gun Ho Gun member?- Never really cared all that much about them...not when Vash is so much better!
Clow Card?- Once again, never paid that much attention to the cards...and there were so many... Yue is much better than any of the cards though... Ooooh, Yue...
Sailor Scout? - If I was one I'd be Sailor Mercury...and Sailor Pluto is completely awesome too.
Ham-Ham - Cannot stand the excessive cuteness...but probably the most sarcastic, intelligent, paranoid, anal retentive individual among all the rodents...if it exists...
Gundam Pilot?- the Wing boys... There's nothing quite like angsting bishounen to make a fangirl happy! And, yes, I am shallow, thank you very much, but I do~on't care!
Mew Mew character?- never seen it, but the green one (Lettuce?) in the promo art kinda reminds me of myself...clumsy, glasses, you get the picture...

Bebop - YES! The Bebop crew rocks my world...but there should have been more ass kicking courtesy of Faye in the movie. *pouts*
Escaflowne- Series: Wonderful characters, epic battles, an amazing soundtrack, and a bittersweet ending that even now leaves me pulling my hair in frustration. ^_^;; Yeah, I like it. Movie: The music is as beautfiul as ever...but the plot was kinda lacking...
X- Have not seen the movie. Seen bits and pieces of the first 5 eps of the series and would like to see more. It gives my aesthetic sensibilities happy tingles... Beautiful boys with swords and ribbons and feathers and magic are always welcome on my tv screen.
Pokemon- I. Like. Pokemon. There, I said it. Err, typed it. I know it's not considered appropriate/cool/whatever for a "true/real" anime fan to like Pokemon. But I do. And I don't care what you think about that so Nyah! ;-P I'll admit the mass market merchandising is a bit much (but there are some very very happy franchise owners scattered about the world), but I find the show itself utterly charming. They're cute and cuddly and dangerous. *glances at puppy on guard in the doorway* All of which seem to be requirments to be my pets. I don't watch it much anymore, but by no means do I run screaming from the room when the theme music comes on. My usual reaction is to run *towards* the tv cooing about how cute the things are.
Inu Yasha- YES! Puppies are wonderful. Especially grumpy ones. *squeezes Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru, Shippou, and Kouga*
Cardcaptor Sakura- YES! Beautiful and absolutely precious in all its incarnations.
Lupin III- never watched it, though Miyazaki did one of the movies so THAT one at least is probably good
Patlabor- never seen it
Tenchi- Never seen the movies. The various tv series and oavs are...okay. Watched them when they were on CN, but never bothered to check out the uncut dvds. I've never understood why all the women liked Tenshi so much. He's a decent, nice guy, but hardly Casanova material. Sasami and Ryo-Oki are some of the cutest characters ever though.
Kenshin or Samurai X- Kenshin is the perfect man. And Sano is sex appeal given two dimensional form. 'Nuf said. Prefer tv series to oavs. What can I say? I like comedy and the oavs are sadly lacking in that regard.
Utena- The movie is S-T-R-A-N-G-E. Beautiful but weird. And the same can be said for the tv series, but at least it makes more sense! ^_^;; I love the tv series actually and am anxiously awaiting the final boxset.
Digimon- Never seen the movies. Saw some eps on the rare Saturday mornings I woke up before 10. Never really cared that much for it. Liked Pokemon better.
