I was bored by Seinfeld, so I figure I'd probably be bored by this book, too.

And I find books with main characters that I hate really difficult to read. That's one of the reasons I was never able to get into the "Pern" books.

Before someone else thinks of it, I have to say that that Ignatius character sounds like an unfriendly caricature of myself. Perhaps I should read this.

It's ok to feel this way about it. Ignatius IS an extremely annoying character, and really has no redeeming qualities. For me, this novel is like a terrible trainwreck...you want to look away, but you can't - you are just drawn to the terrible trainwreck that is Ignatius J. Reilly.
