Yes this a past update, but I can make it work >3. Anyway, on Oct 31, my father told me that Obama was going to be doing a rally at Coronado High school in Henderson. I was obviously squirming with joy because I had missed a few of his other rallies here. And after I was participating in the campaign, I desperately wanted to see him so I would be apart of the big history >D. Plus my friend Jontue was going to meet me there as well, so I was overcome with joy.
So I prepared to wake bright and early and make it there as soon as I could, since it was a good distance from my place :/ so I made it there close to 6 am, doors opened at 5:30. I had to drive around to mooch a space in some fancy plaza of insurance companys and such. Now they can watch my car while I leave it there >D. By then people were crossing the streets, since the main road had been blocked off. But I found a decent space and made my way across the street. As I stood in line I bought a rally towel, since I wasn't sure if they would have shirts, yet of course they did. So now I was one of the creepy people with something with his face on it that you wash your face with D8.
But I managed to get two shirts later on. Anywho, I stepped out of line to get one, which sucked because if I just waited I would have been closer to the rail. Lucky for me though, I got to be in the pit area of the football field, and after following a couple of rather assertive women, I got closer to the rail >:D they did the pushing for me. Though it was still difficult to see, I managed to find a technique to get my camera to a perfect angle to get to the stage. There were times we would bribe people in a failed attempt to let us in front of them.
The event began at 7, but it was a hella long wait. It took the man nearly 2 and a half hours to get on stage. Before him a bunch of people that aren't as awesome as he was spoke first. In the time my feet were growing weak, I took pictures of the massive crowd and the stage. Only adding to my frustration were the morons that felt it would be hilarious to fall silent and then cheer, fooling us to believe he was coming, yet no one was in sight. Someone seriously needed to make use of those rally towels and strangle them D8<.
Finally, he entered the stage. Everyone went nuts, especially this one chick right next to my ear who had one healthy set of lungs :0 I was almost deaf before it was over. Still, I cheered my heart out and kept clicking away at my camera until the battery died; sadly it died right as I was getting a voice recording of a piece of the speech...and it didn't save.
So aside from waiting 2 hours for a 30 minute speech, it was still worth it. I got some awesome pictures and now I can rightfully brag to my children and their children and their children as they visit my grave >3 Yes, I will brag from beyond the grave, because it was just that awesome. Sadly Jontues aunt didn't pick her up until it was over, and still made her stand out in the street with Obama signs, my poor Jontue >D. So as she slaved away, I bought yet another shirt since I was determined to get one with his logo on it. I found one, even if the image was flawed in some ways, it was so cute that I had to have it. It was a white T with "I'm voting for That One. Barack Obama for president" on it, and the O in one was the logo. Then my other shirt relates Obama to Dr. King, which oozes awesome. And what was even better was Jontue and I decided to still hang out after she was done with her aunt.
So I waited for her at an El Pollo Loco and we ate nummy food and then I drove to her house. Once there we walked her dog and talked after months of no contact. Then we went home and fell asleep on her couch, my body sore from holding my rally towl up(the "Yes We Can" side facing him) and my camera to take pictures. Once we managed to wake up, they invited me to the rodeo with them, so I decided to tag along. And after getting some corn on a stick with butter and parmasian cheese, we watched guys get bucked off bulls and the comedian doing some funny acts (not many of them were that funny). Then we went to dinner and I got home around 1. An awesome part of history >3 and my first president rally during my frst election that I got to vote in.
