Yoochun watched at her figure moved slickly around the pool, the blue crystal ripple emanating out across her firm
toned back. She stopped at the side of the pool, lifting herself from the water and wrapping a towel around her. She
turned sharply in his direction, squinting against the sunlight before a quick smile flickered on her lips.
Ri In pulled the towel around her tightly as a chill crept over; approaching the shaded seat she stopped and stared
through the dark shades masking Yoochun’s eyes.
“Do you have to stare at me like that?” The irritable tone in her voice was evident.
“I’m just looking at my beautiful wife.” Yoochun purred, his fingers stretching out and brushing her leg as she sat down.
“What’s the point in coming out here in away from peering eyes if you’re going to stare at me all the time instead?”
Her voice trailed off looking round the private villa that they had spent the last week of their honeymoon. A secluded
hideaway that was meant to be their happiest times together, the start of the rest of their lives.
Ri In winced at the thought. So far away from anyone, just her husband and herself. She felt lonely, so desperately
lonely. Her mind was not on her future with Yoochun but in the past with his best friend Junsu.
There was a hollow drop inside her at the thought of him, of Junsu… Ever since the wedding her mind had never been
so occupied with him. The time they had spent together before the wedding had always seemed to be so exciting. It
was the same feeling she had when she first met Yoochun, but somewhere along the way that was lost and up until
now she had not realized her feelings hadn’t gone any deeper for him.
Looking at him now she felt so empty but it was tainted with guilt, guilt of how she really felt for Junsu. It was all over
now though, Junsu had said his goodbyes so had she, but still she couldn’t get the thought or feel of him away from
her, wondering if he felt it too.
Ri In was aware of Yoochun’s hand running up the outside of her thigh so gentle, each time creeping higher and over
the small string of her bikini. He watched as the droplets of water on her skin caught the light and goose bumps ran
the length of her leg.
Yoochun looked up at her startled as she got up from her seat and headed for the villa. Her abrupt behavior puzzled
him, something wasn’t sitting right with her. The whole time they had been away she seemed distant and jumpy
around him. He had asked her it she was ok but she always replied the same, fine. Rising from his seat he followed
her path inside and watched from the door.
Ri In stood over the sink, her head lowed, her hands clutching to the edge of the counter and staggered breaths of air
pumping through her. She felt sick, she wasn’t sure if she would throw up or just collapse right there in the spot.
Yoochun saw her sway unsteadily and without a thought he was there catching her before she hit the floor.
“My God, are you ok?” He held her up and steadily.
Trying to clear her hazy eyes she mumbled, “I think it’s the heat, I need to sit down.”
Yoochun scooped up her into his arms and carried her over to the sofa.
“Here.” He said settling her. “I’ll get you some water.”
Ri In felt the sting in her eyes. She wanted to scream tell Yoochun not to be so nice to her. She had been sleeping with
his friend up until recently… She loved him!
“Hey,” Yoochun’s voice was gentle and soothing as he stroked her hair back from her face, “Ri Innie, what’s wrong?”
Ri In looked down to where he sat crouched beside her, his face flushed with worry and his eyes searching her blurry
ones for the answer.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” She shook her head and let her tears roll down her cheeks.
Yoochun shook his head.
“Sorry for what? What’s wrong?”
The lump in her throat swelled. She couldn’t tell him, it would break his heart. She wasn’t even sure it was the right
thing to do. What would she gain? She wiped her tears away and sighed heavily.
“I’m just tired; I think I’ve been in the sun too long.” She said forcing a smile.
Yoochun didn’t say anything; he wasn’t sure if that was the truth or whether there was something else occupying her
mind.
“You’d tell me if there was something wrong, wouldn’t you?”
Ri In looked down at his hand and laced her fingers with his.
“Of course I would. I’ve just been feeling off, plus I think I’m a little home sick.” She brought her eyes back up to meet
his.
He nodded and squeezed her hand. “Maybe you should go to bed and get some sleep.” He brushed another tear
away from her cheek.
“Yeah, I’ll feel better when I have a sleep.” She said trying to lift herself from the sofa but a wash of nausea sent her
back down.
“Maybe I should get the doctor.” Yoochun said, the panic evident in his face and voice.
“No!” She protested. “I’m fine. Seriously, I just need rest.”
Yoochun looked her over and shook his head.
“I’ll take you to bed then I’m going to go for the doctor. There’s one outside town, I’ll check the emergency numbers.”
He lifted her off the sofa and headed for the bedroom.
Ri In was grateful for the cool sheets and the dark shades on the window.
“Yoochun, don’t be long. I don’t want to be left here on my own.”
“I won’t be, I promise.” He bent down placing a kiss on her lips.
Ri In watched as he rummaged around, pulling on a t-shirt to go with his shorts and a baseball cap. The last she
heard was the cracking sound of his shoes on the marble floor as she drifted off to sleep.
When she awoke she wasn’t aware of the time. The room was still dark and the unfamiliar noises of the surrounding
area disillusioned her. She couldn’t be sure if she had slept ten minutes or two hours. There was a defiant chill in the
air. Strolling through to the patio she was surprised to be greeted by the dense black of night. She froze listening but
there was no sound of Yoochun in the villa.
Her heart began to thump in her chest. Yoochun had left hours ago; he should have been back by now. She jumped
slightly as her back hit the wall as she tried to stay out of sight, the atmosphere eerily quiet.
Her mind brought to front all the worst things that could have happened to Yoochun, he said he wouldn’t be long. What
was she to do if he didn’t turn up in the next ten minutes? She couldn’t go out looking for him and she didn’t just want
to sit about and wait.
Clambering back into the bedroom, Ri In reached for Yoochun’s mobile phone, clutching tightly as if it would bring all
her answers she thought of what to do or who to call. Who could help her all the way out here? Without realizing she
found herself dialing Junsu’s number. She stared at it unsure whether to press call of put the phone down and try
and calm down.
A noise from outside her window made her flinch; dropping to her knees beside the bed, she pressed the phone to
her ear and listened to the phone ring out. She felt her heart leap when she heard the ring stop and a voice call out.
Ri In suddenly felt calm rush over and confusion set in. The voice at the end of the phone called out again.
“Hello?” There was a giggle as the high pitch muttered something. “Is anybody there?”
Ri In searched her thoughts; she didn’t recognize the female voice. Who was she? She then heard the phone change
hands and Junsu’s low warm voice questioned.
“Hello?”
Before Ri In could let herself say anything, she had hung up and tossed the phone on the bed. Her fear of being alone
and her worry for Yoochun was replaced by a cold sinking feeling and a pain she couldn’t describe, so unnatural.
“Ri In-ah?” Her head shot up. Yoochun was standing in the doorway, two shopping bags in his hand.
“Where have you been?” She clambered to her feet, throwing her arms around Yoochun’s neck.
“I just went to the shop. I’ve only been gone ten minutes. You were fast asleep when I left, you have been all afternoon.”
He muffled into her neck.
She pulled back from him, her heart and mind was confused but at that moment she had never been so happy to see
him. He was there for her, he had always been there for her, he cared and he had never broken her heart.
“Listen, baby…” Yoochun said pushing her back on the bed, “I think we should head home if you’re still feeling unwell
in the morning.” He was calm and firm, unsure of how or why she was acting so strangely lately.
Ri In wanted to break his eye contact, but forced herself to look at him and not let the turmoil inside her spill into
Yoochun’s life. Whatever feeling she may have for Junsu, it certainly weren’t going to be returned. Her heart ached,
everything about her wanted to curl up and breakdown, cry or scream but with Yoochun looking at her with such love
and concern, she couldn’t do it.
A man who loved her, that had stood before everyone he knew and cared for, and declared his love for her, she had
not choice but to return his love.
