Supernatural [for inspired20in20]

This set was made for round 1 at inspired20in20, and I really feel I should talk a bit about this comm. :) It was created by enriana, made to be a non-elite sort of 20inspirations. She graciously asked me if I'd like to co-mod with her, so inspired20in20 is kind of my new baby. That I adopted. The idea is that at the beginning of each month, we put up an inspiration post that includes pictures, songs, words, textures, quotes, and anything else that might be inspiring. Each month has an overarching theme (ours this time was Light & Dark), and all icons must somehow fit into that. If you want to see the inspiration post for this round, it is here.
I signed up with Supernatural long before I knew what the theme would be, but when I found out, I figured it wouldn't be any trouble. However, I was quickly surprised at the direction my set took. The songs ended up being pretty inspiring (because I felt like song 3, "Sunrise, Sunset" by Bright Eyes, was very much about Same and Dean), and I probably could have made an entire set based on it except I made myself not. XD A lot of what I did actually ended up being based on the coloring of the image sets, as you can see in my list of inspirations. Most importantly, inspired20in20 made me go about making my set far differently than a normal 20in20 would. Usually, it's just up to me to interpret 20 words as they fit best with my claim; however, here I had free reign (for the most part). I think making this set really pushed me creatively, and I enjoyed making it far more than any other set I've made for a 20in20 before. And my character bias didn't even show through! \0/
Now on to talking about the actual icons (I'm sorry; I seem awfully rambly today): there are a few in this set that I'm pretty happy with and a few that just feel...bleh. When I'm making an icon and it seems too plain (which is usually; I'm not very good at simplistic icons because when I don't do much to an icon, it just looks unfinished), I think my cure is duplicateduplicateduplicateduplicate and...I don't think it's working very well for me. Some of the duplicated icons in this set make me happy, but others just seem like the duplicating was just a standby and doesn't add anything to the icon. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and anything else about this set - I'm starting to feel more comfortable doing different types of colorings in PhotoShop, but I'm still at a pretty basic level with that and I'd like to know which you think are working best. As always, critique is welcome because I cannot get better if I don't know what I'm doing wrong (which happens a lot, sadly enough).
