NO FEAR

When is it time to move on? This is a general question that can be applied to many a things. A relationship, a job, a hobby, a sport, a friendship, a tv show, a book ....etc. At initial thought, you would think that it depends on the person, some people get bored and move on, some people get scared and move on, some people reach a certain goal and move on, but I am a believer of universal rules. I believe that deep down everything can be reduced to one factor, one motivator. For everyone. After some drunken thinking, which is the most clear and unfiltered thinking in my opion, I have come to the conclusion that FEAR is what drives 99.9% of the things that all people do. I must admit, a recent course offered that thinking path, but after running through some scenarios, I have always ended up with the same answer. FEAR.

People stay in boring, non rewarding jobs out of FEAR of the unknown. People leave jobs out of FEAR of change, FEAR of not being able to support a family or a drinking habit. Love is a pretty powerful thing, but it's not a motivator, it's what FEAR uses to motivate. For example, you do things for loved ones not for love itself, but of FEAR, of dissapointing them, of hurting them, of them not being happy. I've thought about these things and there are some scenarios more difficult to explain. You do something nice for a friend, what do you fear. You do it because you want them to be happy, therefore you FEAR them not being happy. FEAR is an animalistic emotion, one that is present in all animals, and in my opinion, the most basic drive in living things. Ok, so if people, or more importantly me, were able to control or eliminate fear, would I be able to accomplish and get everything I wanted? or would I be void of all emotions, since they are all driven by FEAR. Is having no FEAR a good thing then? I think the answer is to control FEAR, to harness it and use it's power to eliminate unwanted fear. To somehow find that 0.01% emotion that is not FEAR.
