Title: Outcasts of a Fairy Tale

Mar 24, 2006 20:30

Kill me now, Lord.

I wrote a Varden/Lei'ella drabble.

Varden never wanted to get caught in a grand quest, labors of love, great adventures. Varden is a thief. All he wanted was to leave somewhere.

Varden never wanted to find someone, never wanted to feel his heart quicken at the sound of another's soft footsteps.

He never wanted to live in a story.

Lei'ella never thought she would find a story to live in. Lei'ella is a failure, an outcast, a reject. She couldn't find a story, and went elsewhere. She hunted thieves, and made herself useful. She killed. She never killed in cold blood.

Blood isn't cold.

Lei'ella occasionally thought she might find someone, because she liked to think she was in some story. She never thought she really would.

Lei'ella found her story, and Varden is in it.

~End~

I'm not sure if I like it or not; I'm automatically prejudiced because the pairing is horribly written in canon, and I'm not sure if it brings across the message I was trying to send. Of course, the canon makes me want to rip my eyeballs out. Or more accurately, the author's eyeballs out.

writing, romance, snark, inverloch
