I came up to my room to do homework, really.
Ha! So much for that! I ended up taking a "few minutes to check some things" and an hour later am writing this little rant. But really, if you're going to stick Naruto in my face you have to expect some distraction. As I watched the first Shippuuden episode with breathless delight, and read chapter 342 of the manga, my mind ambled to a few insightful comments. Well, mainly one.
I really don't have any particular Naruto ships-- I mean, there are some that I think are cute, or nice, or that I like, but I don't seem to actually ship anything like I do for, for example, FFX, where my predilection for Seymour/Yuna and Tidus/Yuna are well known. Unlike many other fandoms, where I have a tendency to disapprove of most yaoi pairings on the basis that most of their fangirls seem to support them for the SAKE of yaoiness, I honestly understand many yaoi pairings in Naruto.
This turmoil of confusion seems to concentrate in the area of Naru/Sasu. It merely can be interpreted in such a variety of ways that I don't really know whether I prefer their relationship to be platonic or GAY LOLZ (sorry, couldn't resist). I don't really know whether Kishimoto intended their "bond" to be so disputable and have so many facets that all seem to simultaneously contradict and complement each other. To me, it seems obvious that Naruto and Sasuke have a relationship that is beyond platonic; however, I don't quite see it as reaching the level of love in the classical sense. That isn't to say that it lacks the depth of true romantic love, however. It has the same depth, but not quite the same feel, if you can understand my drift.
And there are my rather hazily thought out insights on a matter that, honestly, isn't quite relevant.
