I am a rabid atheist.

This puts me in one of the most distrusted minorities out there. I am among the group you are least likely to be ok with your daughter to marrying. I am also in the group that thinks its ok for people to marry whoever they want. I am in the group that thinks its wrong to allow cells to die when they could be used to heal

I am not sure if it's just how it's written or what you were meaning to say, but I am getting the impression that you are saying only rabid atheists are in the group that agrees with these things. It also seems to say that anyone of any religion would not agree with these things.

I also find it funny that rabid atheists seem to be one of the groups least likely to try to understand where another person is coming from, and one of the groups most like to have the knee-jerk reaction of "no, you're wrong" without even hearing what the other person has to say, right up there with Fundamentalist Christians. As a person whose judgement is not clouded by someone else's preconceived notion, clearly you are more enlightened than the other person.

Fundamentalism is never okay, regardless of it's form.

I guess when it comes to the "no your wrong" statement it depends on what you are talking about. If you tell me the world was created 4000 years ago I am probably not going to say anything, I'm just going to look at you like you are insane. On the other hand if you suggest that there was a group of small proto-humans that lived thousands of years ago on a small pacific island I would do some research and concede the possibility. Please do respond and explain why I should accept both statements equally as your e-mail seems to imply.

In the end the message wasn't meant to convince people to be atheist. It was a statement of how odd it is that we are so distrusted and how very unfair it is. Not everyone who is religious disagrees with my statements BUT MOST DO. That isn't a statement of opinion, go online and look at the surveys, look up the facts.

I didn't think that you were trying to convince people to be atheists. But using statements like most people who are religious disagree with my statements make you look like an ass, and an uneducated ass at that. I would go into this more, but I think nikki covered it okay. The entire body of Christianity doesn't even necessarily disagree with your statements, much less every religion in the world. That would be like saying all people of the Muslim faith are as bat-shit as osama bin laden or whoever else you want to pick. What you have created here is a gross oversimplicity of everyone who is not Tarynn, which is a very dangerous thing

I love you bug. I think you are a very intelligent person but several of your statements make you look like an uneducated ass. How many states in our country have passed constitutional amendments that forbid gay marriage? Please look it up and reply to me with a number. Do any of these states allow amendments to be made to their constitutions by a minority? How many states have specifically worded laws that define marriage as something between one man and one woman? Bug I think you have made the false assumption that what you personally observe can be applied to a larger group. The fact is you live in a state where the majority is so bigoted they passed an amendment that not only forbid gay marriage but any type of civil union too. Once again please not I don't make the "All" statement, I make the "majority" statement

Okay. Clearly we have missed what each of us is discussing. You are discussing america. I am discussing the world. I am discussing everyone. You are discussing voters. Voters in a voting system where it has been proved that things can go wrong. I am completely aware of the fact that most of the states in country do not allow gay marriage. I do know that I can think of a couple of fundamentalist (i feel like this is an important distinction to make) christians who are okay with stem cell research. One being Nancy Reagan. One being Barbara Bush

I don't have faith in other people. I have known you to be a kind and generous person and do expect you to continue acting that way. I also won't be jumping through any windows near you if there is any glass cleaner around. I t doesn't have to do with faith it has to do with experience
