His short, shaky breaths seem to echo the ones that leave Jongin's lips. The quiet bass of a song thrums through a speaker, filling the room and matching his heartbeat. There's the constant cracking of the fire, warming the room, warming Jongin's skin, smooth beneath his fingers. Delicate, and lovely, and his.
Chanyeol doesn't open his eyes, letting his other senses take over, letting his subconscious run the best memories like a film. Of their first meeting, of the ones that followed after. Of the longest kiss they had. Of the time Jongin told him he loved him, of his tears when Chanyeol promised to always love him back. Even of last night, when Jongin started the fire and joined Chanyeol on the couch, legs intertwining with his, head resting on Chanyeol's chest.
Again, and again, Chanyeol's fingertips dance up Jongin's back then hold on to his shoulder, only to dance back down. Jongin makes a little sound or moves in a different way to each tap and press on his body, and there's a rhythm to his gentle thrusts, and just like this, just like this, Chanyeol gets lost in the music Jongin creates.
The fluttering in his stomach only rises up to his chest when Jongin takes his lips into his own. With Jongin so close to him, against him, around him, in him, Chanyeol is reminded again of the beautiful fact that they're each other's. That Jongin wants to be his as much as Chanyeol loves being Jongin's. It'd taken so long, and so much, to finally get here, to finally be able to hold Jongin close and whisper his affections into a slow, leisurely kiss.
All of that is easily forgotten, in a moment such as this.
Chanyeol's fingers stop dancing when the kiss deepens, and Jongin's movements become less hurried. Chanyeol shudders under him, hips canting forward, needing to feel more, even more, of Jongin inside him. His hand searches for Jongin's, and when their fingers interlock it's the younger who tightens the grip, who breaks the kiss to trail his lips downward.
It's the pull that makes Chanyeol open his eyes. Jongin's lips have settled on the side of Chanyeol's neck, teeth grazing the moist skin around the part that's being sucked. This is something Jongin does time to time, usually on days he feels particularly jealous or possessive, so Chanyeol can have a mark that fiercely screams Jongin. As though he needs reminding. As if Chanyeol would stray. Still, Chanyeol can't help the soaring in his chest when Jongin shifts and finds another spot to mark.
"Jongin," Chanyeol says, voice raspy from talking the night away. Now that his eyes are open Chanyeol can see that dawn is just breaking, and a light snow has begun to fall onto the growing piles of white. And Chanyeol can see the rosy glow on Jongin's cheeks, as well as the gentle quiver of his eyelids. "Jongin, do you remember what I promised?"
The younger licks the fresh lovebites on Chanyeol's neck then returns his gaze, the lower half of his body moving, still, at that slow, steady pace. Chanyeol caresses Jongin's knuckles with his thumb, his free hand gliding once more down Jongin's back, glistening in the dim light of their home.
"Yes," Jongin answers, just as Chanyeol kisses the side of his nose, "but promises can be broken."
Chanyeol gives a thoughtful hum. He loves the way their bodies can harmonize so easily now, and he only needs a moment to regain control of his hips and match Jongin's rhythm. "That's true," he agrees after a while. "But you trust me, don't you?"
Jongin smiles at this. He gives Chanyeol another leisurely kiss, teeth gently biting down on his upper lip, tongue lazily swirling against his own, like a paintbrush delicately stroking a canvas, turning something plain into a wonderful piece of art. Distracted by the kiss, Chanyeol doesn't feel Jongin's hand let go, realizing he had only when Jongin places it on the left side of his chest, right above his heart.
"I trust your heart," Jongin tells him, and Chanyeol's not sure if they had parted so that Jongin could answer him, or because the love between them was becoming too overwhelming, particularly when the pressure in their bodies lifted and the euphoria took over.
Either way, he's glad that Jongin trusts the part of him that's true.
