so this is really late...
Alkaline Trio Adventures part III: Portland!
That awkward moment where you're too close to Matt Skiba to take good pics of him 8____8
So after three hours of sleep we had to get up. FFFFFFUU. It was still SLEEP OR SHOWER so we were all still gross as we peeled ourselves out of bed and got ready to leave. We checked out and went to wait for our cab right by the lobby entrance but someone puked in the bushes so we DX-ed and moved upwind lol. MMM TRASHY.
We called for two different cabs because we didnt know if the greyhound station and the train station were close and our cabbie bitched us out over it. Lol ok, dude, thanks. But we got over to the train station and got way confused on how to DO THINGS in the station, but we asked lots of questions and figured that shit out. Not bad for two confused kids running on three hours of sleep!
And we had trouble with the vending machine again, because that's how our travels roll.
It was a nice, scenic ride from Seattle to Portland and much better then being in a bus. The people around us were nice and cool to chat with and listened to our stories from the night before as Haley and i sat there in a daze and she shot down all my suggestions of a nap lolol.
That's ok, anyways, because we got to the hotel, the same one we stayed in for MCR, and found out that it doesnt let you check in til 3. It was 11 am. FFFFUUU. But luckily they were awesome enough to let us store our stuff behind the bar. Whew.
Got the nicest cabbie ever on our ride over to the venue, but he pulled up right next to the bus to let us out and when we got out, Basement Skiba (their bus driver, it's a nickname we gave him haha) came out of the bus and looked at us with this 'ITS YOU' look and then got in the cab hahahaha. So we lol'd over that.
Of course, we were the first people in line, since it was still only like, 11 am at this point. And it was really sunny and barely any shade so we were putting on sunscreen. And of course that's when Derek comes around the corner and says hi haha. Haley was rubbing sunscreen into her chest lmao lmao.
He was nice enough to take photos with us and sit and chat for a moment before suggesting we go somewhere else a bit and get out of the heat hehe. And lose our spot, no way!

and then we took pictures with each other! And I look like such a lump XD
After awhile the shade came and that was awesome! And THEN SO DID fleurdeliser for a little while! We nervously abandoned our spot and went and got food and had a little picnic on the steps and Julie had sushi and stole a piece and it was good! :D
It was really nice to see Julie and have the chance to say hi, I just wish I hadn't been so tired! We must do it again, lovely, sometime when I am not out of it! <3 Thanks again for coming and spending time with us, you made the day go by faster! <3
Then it was a whirlwind of dog-watching, not reacting to a dude we met the night before's bragging (he was disappointed that we werent bummed), and making line friends. Haley also went back to the hotel on her own at one point after 3 to check in. But then it was time to go inside and we made our way up front!
Super close again!
Dead Country were good again! I need to have Haley send me their stuff. (apparently the singer is on Skiba's solo record that's coming out soon! !!!)
So were the Smoking Popes! No skanking Skeebs, but Dan and Derek both came out to watch! And someone sent me a waterbottle. Um... idk who it was, but it was sent specifically to meee so that was pretty awesome! And it was nice to have some water! Especially since it was hottt again.
ALKALINE TRIOOOooo. So good, as always, even though I think Matt wasn't feeling that great because he kept talking about seeing black spots in his vision and stuff. Eep. But Haley and I sang Private Eye to his ass that night, because he swung his mic stand around towards the crowd then stood with his back to us for the last 1/3 of the song. Literally, if someone had pushed me forward at all, I would have faceplanted straight into his buttcrack. ahaha. ilu mskeebs, but not THAT much.
So after the show we went to find Jess (our friend, also Taylor from Drive A's gf) but she'd passed out twice during the show so she left :( and we went out to sit next to the buses. The tech/roadie guy from the Smoking Popes recognized me and let me have a Skiba pick haha.
But we were told we had to clear off and instead of going and standing off to the side like some other people, Haley and I left. We ended up finding out later that Matt came out about 1/2 hour after we left, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. We got sleep, though, and that's important haha.
I ended up staying with Haley for a few days and it was reaaaaally nice. I got to hang out with her kitties, we watched a bunch of horror movies, ate a ton of food (WE HADNT EATEN MUCH IN LIKE 3 DAYS, OK) and saw Harry Potter where we both cried like babies. I also introduced her to the wonders of Chipotle and she gave me her 10 dollar chipotle gift card. awwww. <3
I love Haley <3 We just connect so well on some basic level. I never feel awkward around her and silences are never uncomfortable. We never run out of things to talk about! I just <3 her a lot and feel lucky to be able to call her my friend. I'm glad we've been able to spend TWO different concert trips together in one year and I know there will be plenty more in our future and I look forward to them very much!
This report was a bit lazy, I know, but I still have two big ones to work on! Hopefully I can knock those out in the next few days :D
