Yunho/Changmin

His heart is sitting at a red vinyl booth staring into a cup of coffee.
Can be read as a backward fic (meaning the end is at the start and the start is at the end lmao) or as separate entities :)

들리나요 (Can You Hear Me) - Taeyeon
Next to you, who just let me go so easily
I go closer to you again step by step
The sky is a massive map of stars, each constellation a path leading Changmin on his way to find Yunho.
He takes three days and nine hours. It is slightly past midnight when he presses his palms against the cool glass window, swallowing his fears and gazing at Yunho.
He's missed him. God, has he missed him. He's travelled the world, learned how to say I love you in every language in this world (but really, the secret to the best way to confess your love is hidden in the way Yunho's eyes light up before Changmin leans in to press a kiss and -). He's gotten drunk at a nightclub in New York, sat on the sidewalk in Tokyo and sang his heart out, written a million and one letters to Yunho that he never got the courage to send.
Today (three days and nine hours after he set out on this expedition to search for his missing heart; twenty-nine weeks, one day and fourteen hours after he left a note saying Wait for me I'll be back soon and walked out of the apartment they've shared for a year and a half), he stands outside a café situated in downtown Seoul, he finds his heart.
His heart is sitting at a red vinyl booth staring into a cup of coffee. His hair has gotten longer, and Changmin resists the urge to run his fingers through his heart's jet-black hair.
And then, as if the telepathic connection all their friends had joked about so long ago still exists, Yunho looks up, right into Changmin's eyes.
Yunho is wearing a sad smile and his heart on his sleeve. Changmin walks in without a moment's hesitation, and then two hearts join as one.
Memories That Fade Like Photographs - All Time Low
There's a look in your eye and it's screaming goodbye
Now it tears me apart just to look at the sky
"Are you going somewhere?" Yunho asks as he watches Changmin throw clothes into his luggage. Yunho clambers to the side of the bed Changmin is on, and rests his head on Changmin's shoulder. "Are you leaving me?"
Changmin gives him a sad smile. "Never," he says, and Yunho breathes out a shaky sigh of relief. Changmin's hand finds his own heart, fingers splaying out into a fan. "You'll always be right here."
Yunho says, "You really have to do this?"
"I do." Changmin says steadily.
Yunho presses a kiss on Changmin's cheek. "Come back soon," he whispers into the shell of Changmin's ear.
He watches as Changmin nods, eyes shuttering shut. He doesn't ask where Changmin is going, or when exactly he is coming back, because he knows that Changmin doesn't have the answers either.
All he can do is wait.
It Ends Tonight - The All American Rejects
The walls start breathing
My mind's unweaving
Maybe it's best you leave me alone
They all knew it would be coming, but they just didn't expect it so soon.
Changmin wears a smile that curves down at the edges through it all. Changmin smiles when Yoochun leaves first, with promises to visit soon. Changmin smiles when Junho comes over to pick Junsu up. Changmin smiles when Jaejoong wringes his hands as he fusses over the state of the apartment will be like if left in the care of Changmin and Yunho.
And then there's only the two of them left, in an apartment too big for two but just right for five. Changmin wanders down the hallway, curling up in a corner with his heart in his throat.
"Don't." Yunho says softly as he sits down beside Changmin.
Don't what? Don't be sad? Don't cry? Changmin wonders, but decides that some things are best left unsaid.

They sneak out of the apartment after hours, slapping palms over their mouths to hide their giggling as they dash past their sleeping manager and downstairs.
They make a list of places they want to go to: the park, downtown, Starbucks to get a cup of coffee.
Downtown and Starbucks are out - even past midnight, with a cap pulled down low and oversize sunglasses, undoubtedly they'd still be recognised by their fans.
So they make their way to the park, holding hands and smiling at each other as they listen to the wind hum a melody beside their ears and watch the stars blink at them.
Yunho wants this to last, he really does.

There are a hundred thousand stars in the sky, but I only see you
Is this luck, or inconceivability?
You are my best-kept secret, Changmin thinks, as he sits beside Yunho. The cameras flash, and it takes all of Changmin's willpower not to reach out and touch Yunho's wrist, his cheek, any part of him.
The cameraman calls for a break. "Changmin-sshi, don't look so stiff," he adds before walking off for a drink of water.
Changmin sighs, head hanging low in embarrassment. Yunho looks at him and smiles encouragingly before pressing his mouth close to Changmin's ear and whispering, "Don't worry, I miss you too."
Yoochun waggles his eyebrows lecherously at them before getting dragged away by Junsu and Jaejoong.
When the photoshoot is over, Yunho corners him in the corridor. Changmin laughs as their noses press together. "I really, really missed you," Changmin breathes.
And then he is falling, drowning in Yunho's eyes.

Kiss me while your wet skin is still hot
Touch me, the feeling surges up
Changmin is just inches apart, his eyes wide open as he stares at Yunho. Yunho's breathing is slightly ragged as he whispers, "I think I love you too."
Changmin smiles, then leans forward, his eyes fluttering closed. He tastes like heaven, Yunho learns, and he finds that he never wants to let go.

I guess, I guess I'm a fool
A fool that knows you, only you
Yes, as I look at you
Dear Yunho-hyung,
Yunho, Yunho, Yunho. You fill my heart up with something that tastes vaguely like candy, and I cannot help but smile whenever my lips form the shape of your name.
Even now, as the world is fading into a thousand shades of black, as I am sitting by the windowsill watching the occasional light flicker on and off, I can still picture the curve of your jaw. I can still remember the essence of smile, the glimmer of your eyes. The way your feet seem to dance even when you are walking.
I love you, I think. I really think I do.
Sometimes I sit in a corner of my room, pressing my ear against the whitewashed wall and imagine that I can hear the sound of your breathing in the room beside. I trace the shape of a heart and pray that you are dreaming of me.
Forever yours,
Changmin

And I feel a weakness coming on
Never felt so good to be so wrong
Yunho doesn't know when it started, exactly.
All he knows is that the only thing keeping him sane is the continuous chanting of "Friends, Yunho, just friends" when he catches himself staring at Changmin for too long again.
There is absolutely nothing more than friendship, Yunho thinks, as he averts his gaze from Changmin for the fifty-ninth time today.
Nothing more, he emphasises to himself in his head. He stares when Changmin does a particularly sleek dance move, and misses out on a beat. Their dance instructor looks annoyed, and hits the pause button on his music player.
"Yunho-sshi!" he says, glaring at Yunho. "Please concentrate more."
Yunho flushes. "Sorry," he mumbles.
Changmin flashes him a sympathetic look, and Yunho looks away before he does anything too stupid.
The rest of the day passes like that, with Yunho stumbling over his dance steps. At last, the dance instructor gets so annoyed he stomps out of the room in a huff, instructing them to come back again the next day when Yunho-sshi is feeling better.
Yunho rubs his hand against his eyes and sighs, heading for the water cooler outside the dance studio. As he gulps down the ice-cold water, he feels a familiar touch on his back.
"Hey," Jaejoong says. "Are you okay?"
Yunho sighs again, then turns to face his best friend. "I'm fine. I guess."
Jaejoong has an evil glint in his eye. "Well then," he says. "Why were you staring at Changmin throughout the entire dance practice?"
Yunho's mouth falls open. "What? I was not!" He argues heatedly.
"Do you like him or something?"
"No!"
Jaejoong smiles and pats Yunho's head. "You know what lying to yourself feels like, Yunho-yah," he whispers in Yunho's ear before darting away, leaving Yunho standing in the middle of a corridor, alone with his overcrowded thoughts.
