Bastet (Shihouin Yoruichi of Bleach)
[Links] - Met? Yes, but not as often as he'd like - it's usually for serious reasons
- Character: Hakkai - she's his oldest and dearest friend in the Sphere; she's also one of the few people he'll take advice/instruction from
- Respect Level: Immense. He knows she can kick his ass. She wasn't always the head of the guard and he wasn't always a guard, but he still respects her orders when they come. On occasion she has gotten 'tough love' on him when he wouldn't check the journals for long periods of time.
- Drink Name: Catnap Cream
- Song: "Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer. Smoke noted her beauty the first time he met her, but she was involved with Sniper/Lockon then and he pushed his crush down so as not to lose her friendship - or Sniper's, for that matter. After losing Smoke lost his memories of Ghost, Smoke had a renewed attraction to Bastet, yet still pushes it down out of obligation to both Bastet and Ghost.
- Smoke first met Bastet when Ran/Gertrude went missing, since she was Smoke's first roommate. She was also the one to tell him that Ran was killed, teaching him that sensitive information could draw the wrath of the tree and to be careful of where such knowledge is shared.
- Bastet was the first person to reply to Smoke's first journal entry, establishing an early rapport of lifestyle similarities. This initial introduction included her friends Drake/Sasuke, Throne/Teddy Altman, and Want/Billy Kaplan. It is from them that he adopted the nicknames of "Lady B" and just "B" for Bastet.
- Recently, Smoke got his job back as a full-time member of the Guard. This is a way to continue training his fighting skills, to meet and help newborns, to help her, and to see her more often.
[[Bastet in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Bastet's Journal]] Amurui (Senri of +Anima)
[Links] - Met? Present at birth, and has met a number of times since.
- Character: Goku's Seiten Taisei form - Amurui is a kind person, but cannot control the stronger, wilder side of his powers.
- Respect Level: Adopted little brother, as Smoke lost his first birth sibling and was born alone the second time; Amurui was born alone too. Smoke knows now that Amurui is not stupid or slow - he simply does not speak a lot, even over the journals. He also knows that Amurui possess a vast knowledge of the outdoors - camping, cooking, and especially plants.
- Drink Name: To Be Given
- Song: "I Stand All Alone" by Bryan White and "Transformation" by Phil Collins / performed by the Bulgarian Women's Choir. "I Stand Alone" is about an outcast's deep understanding of how the forest operates and can be deadly to other people; the outcast would rather remain in the forest than go back to 'civilization'. "Transformation" is the deep, spiritual-familial feeling that Smoke has for Amurui in spite of his uncontrolled side; Amurui invites Smoke to think in ways that he never did before.
- When Amurui was born, Smoke had an immediate reaction and thought that an item could bind Amurui's wild power. The way that Amurui reacted afterwards - scared and confused - also made Smoke think of Goku, and thus he adopted Amurui. In case it happened again, Smoke would know what to do, and he expected it would be difficult for Amurui to make friends. While that hasn't proven quite true, it is difficult for people to understand Amurui's meaning - even Smoke struggles with it sometimes. Smoke has also figured out that Amurui needs physical reminders in order to remember people.
- Recently, Smoke had an emotional reunion with Amurui. Then, he took their new brother Aniki/Ganju out to Amurui's campsite for an open-pit dinner. Pings abounded.
[[Amurui in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Amurui's Journal]] Ghost (Jack Landors of Power Rangers SPD)
- Met? Since losing his memory of Ghost, they've only met twice, so it's still incredibly awkward between them
- Character: none - Ghost's features and abilities are completely unique in Smoke's mind, though Smoke doesn't yet know what those abilities are this second time around.
- Respect Level: Smoke is doing his best to give Ghost space while they both work out how they feel about he each other. After a long talk with Aurora/Tieria, Smoke decided that he would only pursue a reforged relationship with Ghost if Ghost desired it first. So Smoke is focused on respecting Ghost's personal bubble.
- Drink Name: Sunny Muddy Slide
- Song: "Set Fire to the Third Bar (karaoke)" by Snow Patrol. The song in karaoke version has moments of despairing lulls mixed with high hopeful notes. To me it very accurately portrays the limbo-like state Smoke finds himself with Ghost now that he's forgotten their relationship.
- On his first day back after dying for the first time after being in the Sphere for over a year, Smoke learned from Aurora that he and Ghost had been boyfriends. Smoke has since learned who some of their mutual friends were/are, and even a few past incidents that were they were probably together given the feeling that 'someone' was there, but without a memory as to who it was. The primary reason for Smoke's cautious devotion to rekindling old ES relationships is how frustrated he was trying to befriend Fullmetal, Trust, and Range/Lockon (Sniper #2) after they lost their memories of Edensphere.
- Much like the way Smoke felt the first time, he realized upon first meeting Ghost that Ghost is attractive, and wants to at least become friends again, but he doesn't think that the two ideas are compatible. There are lovers, and there are friends, but the 'boyfriend' idea is lost on him. Again.

Lea (Axel of Kingdom Hearts)
[Links] - Met? Yes, only twice
- Character: Himself, and the way he can (sometimes) joke with Hakkai and Goku about very serious issues
- Respect Level: Smoke likes Lea's attitude a lot - the fact that he's a redhead helps. He trusts him enough to give him pointers about Edensphere basics, but they haven't really "hung out" a lot.
- Drink Name: To Be Given
- Song: Hips Don't Lie "Wheel in the Sky" by Journey. A traveler uncertain of his future as he makes his way home - wherever home is - but facing it head-on anyway. Days will pass even if we aren't ready.
- Lea came to Smoke's mass effort to clean up and rebuild the bar, then came with Kagerou/Orihime to watch Smoke activate his third memory crystal (when he got trapped in a Chewbacca suit). Of anyone, he enjoys chatting with Lea over the journals - if Kagerou is fun in person, Lea is fun over the journals, so Smoke really likes both siblings.
- Smoke did tease Lea a little about his girly nickname -- but only a little bit.
- Lea stayed at Smoke's during the Hobo Event
- TO EDIT: Orc-ass kicking
[[Lea in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Lea's Journal]] Grift (Thomas Evans, OC)
- Met? Yes, but only during work at the bar
- Character: Miscellaneous poker-buddies in Chang'an
- Respect Level: Grift reached out to Smoke for the job at the bar when Smoke was working there alone, and has since complimented Smoke many times as "the best boss in the Sphere", which always makes Smoke grin. Thus, he treats Grift very well as an employee, but has never really 'hung out' with him.
- Drink Name: Sky-High-Lights
- Song: "Raggle Taggle Gypsy" by Minstrels of Mayhem. It's a fun, pub-sing song that includes spoken humor. The references to the Gypsy's antics make me think of Grift's brand of magic.
- Smoke is often amused by Grift's reaction to more modern things like the giant television, but is especially happy to know that Grift enjoys his job and hopes that he will remain an employee for a long time. Grift is the current employee who has worked for him the longest, possibly surpassing Kanin, Alexi, and Ghost soon.
[[Grift in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Grift's Journal]] Blood (Kusajishi Yachiru of Bleach)
- Met? Yes, but not since his rebirth
- Character: Lirin - high energy and love of candy / food
- Respect Level: He remembers having defend Blood's status as a child before, and he has also seen her kick butt in battle twice, so he knows to treat her differently based on the situation.
- Drink Name: Fizzy Fruity Fallout
- Song: "Super Drive" by BAD LUCK. This is one of the most intense, happiest, hopeful, fun-loving, high-energy songs I know. I think the nice thing is that sentiment translates well in the music even if you don't know Japanese, just like so many people like Blood~
- Smoke originally spent a lot of time with Blood, because she was Ghost/Jack's dear little sister and she'd tag along with them to the hot springs, when he went to work at the bar, etc. However, since losing his memory of Ghost he has drifted from her, partly because he knows she's important but he didn't know why for a long time.
- Before Smoke went off with Blood, Kiba/Renji, and Toushi/Ichigo (#2) to take out the monsters that had plagued the Watch, Ghost and Smoke had a conversation in which Smoke found out she was Ghost's little sister, and that his memory of her with Bridge's (formerly Brooklyn) rescue team to save Sky (formerly Spike) had included saving Ghost. (Evil Twins Event Dec 2008)
[[Blood in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Blood's Journal]] [[ditto]] Kagerou (Inoue Orihime of Bleach)
- Met? Yes, a few times
- Character: Lucy/Selphie (from Edensphere)
- Respect Level: She's the kind of person he trusted instantly, given her personality resemblance to Lucy. Next to Bastet, he's Smoke's closest female friend. He hasn't known her long, but he trusts her immensely and enjoys her company.
- Drink Name: To Be Given
- Song: "Alegria" by Cirqu du Soleil. The key quote from the song is "I see a sparkle of life shining." Kagerou is a light of life, and just a very peppy person that Smoke likes to keep around.
- He noticed that her handwriting was similar to Nova's (Orihime #1), but he never really knew Nova that well - just that she seemed like a fun person, and he talked to her about mahjongg. When Smoke posted a journal entry asking for help to rebuild the bar, Kagerou answered - but Smoke expected everyone a few days later. Kagerou offered to come over that day, and when he met her he flat out told her that she had this aura of exuberance and friendship much like Lucy did.
- Kagerou and her brother Lea/Axel were also present when Smoke used his 3rd memory crystal and was stuck in a Chewbacca suit. He wanted to show them what a memory crystal looked like and how it could affect someone.
- Now, Kagerou wants to work at the bar, and Smoke is just ecstatic to be able to spend more time around her - anything to ease the daily stress and the darkness that comes so often to the Sphere.
[[Kagerou in Smoke's Journal]] Toushi (Kurosaki Ichigo #2 of Bleach)
- Met? Yes, once
- Character: Dokugakuji, for fighting style
- Respect Level: He teased Toushi a lot when he first got here, but then they went into battle together against the monsters on Crystala that were attacking the Watch. And Smoke decided that Toushi was actually pretty capable.
- Drink Name: To Be Given
- Song: n/a
- Toushi #1 was one of those people Smoke wished he'd known better back when he was here, but now that Toushi #2 is here Smoke would like to get to know him. Even if that means teasing him every so often as well.
- Recently, Smoke also whacked some orcs with Toushi and Lea/Axel - alongside Kiba/Renji and Kazahana/Rukia - in the Wilderness-as-Mordor

[[Smoke in Toushi's Journal]] Rank 3 :: Smoke Wishes He Knew Them Better [12 characters]

ES Notes / Connections
Dash (Tommy Shephard/Speed of Young Avengers)
[Links] - Met? Nope
- Character: Goku in all of his best moods
- Respect Level: Dash is THE guru of all things modern or technologically advanced, as far as Smoke's concerned, and Smoke feels proud when he actually recognizes a reference
- Drink Name: None
- Song: n/a
- Smoke knows the guy is usually good for a laugh, and that they share a number of acquaintances new and old. He's chatted via journal with Dash a number of times, but hasn't had a chance to connect with the guy.
[[Dash in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Dash's Journal]] Bridge (Formerly Brooklyn, of Power Rangers SPD)
[Links] - Met? Yes, every once in awhile
- Character: Goku in terms of ridiculousness, but no tinker traits
- Respect Level: Bridge is smart and fun, and he happens to be good in a fight too. Plus, gotta give credit to the head of the Scavengers. They just aren't very close.
- Drink Name: After-Work Special
- Song: "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac. It's a generally optimistic song, seeking joy in the fact that "yesterday's gone" and that tomorrow will be better. Smoke carries so many fond memories of the past that he can't let them all go, but he does envy Bridge's (seeming) ability to deal with it better than Smoke thinks he himself does.
- Smoke is vaguely aware of the fact that he was never good friends with Bridge, but that he used to be closer / hang out more with Bridge before his (Smoke's) rebirth when he forgot Ghost.
- Smoke's strongest memory of Bridge is from when he accompanied Bridge, Blood/Yachiru, and another person whom Smoke doesn't remember ("Crescent") to rescue Sky (formerly Spike). Smoke has since figured out that they were also there to rescue Ghost/Jack.
- He recently enjoyed playing Beatles Rock Band with Bridge at the grand reopening of Smoke's bar
[[Bridge in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Bridge's Journal]] Kazahana (Kuchiki Rukia of Bleach)
[Links] - Met? Yes, three times, twice recently + a few times in passing at the bar
- Character: Hakkai for her healing abilities and general concern for people
- Respect Level: She helped out Amurui - he really likes her for that, but he knows practically nothing else about her.
- Drink Name: None
- Song: n/a
- Awhile back, Kazahana came by the bar. More recently, Smoke gave her refuge at his bar when she was trying to avoid Toushi's blessing of unicorns
- Most notably, Smoke raced to help Amurui/Senri when his arm went crazy, and discovered Kazahana was already there. Even though they didn't learn much about what happened, he appreciated her effort.
- Recently, he bashed some orcs with Kazahana in the Wilderness-as-Mordor, alongside Toushi/Ichigo #2, Lea/Axel, and Kiba/Renji.
[[Kazahana in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Kazahana's Journal]] Juliet (Grell Sutcliffe of Kuroshitsuji / Black Butler)
[Links] - Met? Yes, 2-3 times
- Character: n/a
- Respect Level: He still thinks Juliet is a girl, and fairly unstable when it comes to finding out about the past. He does think Juliet is pretty, but if he knew that Juliet was male he might be more inclined to hang out with him as a friend.
- Drink Name: None
- Song: "Cinderella" by EAV. The classic story as sung by a German rock band, with bonus bagpipes and a drunk king. It's one of the funniest songs I know.
- Smoke chatted with Juliet a few times on the journals, and finally got to meet 'her' when Juliet showed up to help with cleaning up and rebuilding the bar.
[[Juliet in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Juliet's Journal]] Gene[-1] (Lyle Dylandy of Gundam 00)
[Links] - Met? Once
- Character: Bar buddies in Chang'an
- Respect Level: Smoke doesn't know him well, but he seriously appreciates the help to rebuild the bar
- Drink Name: Technically none, but by association Bullseye Swirl
- Song: "Brotherhood" by Flatfoot 56. Part cultural association, part badassery, and part sentimentality
- Smoke is doing his best to treat Gene like a new person, separate from Sniper (Lockon #1) and Range (Lockon #2), but he has no idea that Gene isn't even the same Dylandy brother as Sniper & Range.
- Gene helped out with repairing the bar, and chatted with Smoke about redesigning the floorplan of the bar. Liking alcohol as much as his "previous selves" helps the kinship. Smoke likes the guy, they just... haven't spent much time together.
[[Smoke in Gene's Journal]] Kiba (Abarai Renji of Bleach)
[Links] - Met? Twice
- Character: Dokugakuji with fighting style, Smoke himself with cursing tendencies
- Respect Level: They've traded insults over the journals in the past, but recently they were able to fight side by side without yelling at one another
- Drink Name: None
- Song: "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns & Roses. Have you seen his sword's spirit? Seriously though, "We got fun 'n' games... We take it day by day... You can taste the bright lights / But you won't get them for free". It just seemed like it was a pretty good "don't mess with me" song or "Yeah I'm laid back, but I can totally fuck you up if I feel like it."
- Smoke fought alongside Kiba on Crystala against the monsters that attacked the Watch, with Blood/Yachiru and Toushi/Ichigo.
- He also whacked some orcs in the Wilderness-as-Mordor with Kiba in tow
[[Kiba in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Kiba's Journal]] Sky (Formerly Spike, of Power Rangers SPD)
[Links] - Met? Yes, a couple of times, but not recently
- Character: Kougaiji with his strict honor code
- Respect Level: He was never close to Sky, but he does respect him as a fighter - especially having seen what his evil twin could do - and a Guard/Watch. He also remembers when he helped Bridge rescue Sky from his evil twin, so that tells you he must have thought well enough about him before the rescue. Granted Smoke forgot he was also going to rescue Ghost/Jack, but Sky was a friend of a friend.
- Drink Name: The After-Work Special
- Song: n/a
- Smoke remembers vaguely that Sky actually came to the bar once on opening night as part of a dare or agreement, but for the most part associates him with the lost memories of Ghost and as a friend to Bridge.
- If he knew what Inara looked like, he might be a little jealous of Sky being in such a relationship, but as it is he just thinks "good for him" in the same way he thought it about Sniper/Lockon #1 and Bastet.
[[Sky in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Sky's Journal]] Sailormoon (Chibi Usa of Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon)
[Links] - Met? Once
- Character: Lirin for size & spunk
- Respect Level: If first impressions are anything, Smoke may hire her again to decorate for him
- Drink Name: None
- Song: "Turkish Delight" by David Crowder. Sweetness and Spunkiness all in one song~
- She isn't Smoke's favorite person ever and he knows pretty much nothing about her, but she earned major brownie points for working with Goodbye/Sheryl on decorations for the Rebuild Party for Smoke's bar

Will (Simon Tam of Firefly)
[Links] - Met? No
- Character: Hakkai for his stuffy doctor personality
- Respect Level: He sounds good at what he does, but he's just a little too uptight for Smoke to engage in conversation with all that often
- Drink Name: None
- Song: None
- Smoke understands the 'protective older brother' thing that Will has going on, but being the younger sibling in a broken family makes Smoke a little jealous of the obvious love that Will has for his family (canon and ES).
[[Will in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Will's Journal]] Youth (Maito Gai of Naruto)
[Links] - Met? Yes, once
- Character: Zakuro for his eccentricity
- Respect Level: He helped out with the bar and he was one of the Watch members that Smoke avenged on Crystala, so he can't be that bad a guy
- Drink Name: None
- Song: "B4U" from Dance Dance Revolution - one of the craziest, fastest songs I've ever heard. Like it's there in your face for one minute and 36 seconds, and the next second it's gone.
- Smoke asked Youth to help out at the bar, and he very energetically responded, so Smoke really appreciated that.
[[Youth in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Youth's Journal]] Locket (Layer of Mega Man)
[Links] - Met? Yes - once
- Character: Yaone for attractively awkward
- Respect Level: She means well, she's cute, and she wanted to help out at the bar as a way to distract herself - pretty nice girl for an android.
- Drink Name: None
- Song: None
- One little afternoon chat with Locket convinced Smoke that she was alright, if a little lacking in social knowledge among humans - mainly because she didn't understand why Kazahana was upset at her for playing a game of Twister with Kiba. Smoke advised her as best he could, and gave her an alcoholic drink - at her request - to sip on as well.
[[Locket in Smoke's Journal]] //
[[Smoke in Layer's Journal]] Derrick (Richard Castle of Castle)
- Met? Yes, once
- Character: Possibly Banri without the racism
- Respect Level: He liked Derrick when he referred to the bar as 'famous', but considering he planned to frequent there, he liked him more. If he just chats with him more often, and meets him a few more times, he will probably learn to like him.
- Drink Name: To Be Given
- Song: "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder. Derrick reminds Smoke of McQueen - the kind of patron that Smoke wanted to create the bar for in the first place.

Moon (Genjyo-sanzo of Saiyuki)
- Met? Yes, twice
- Character: Sanzo, durr
- Respect Level: Uhh... what respect? No seriously, Smoke is trying to forgive the guy for abandoning him and his friends, thinking it's because he came back (which he didn't yet, at the point Smoke was taken from), but mainly it's Smoke trying to give Moon a chance to be less of an asshole in Edensphere than he was in canon. Granted Smoke trusts him to pull out the big guns when they're in a tight spot, but in terms of an everyday friendship? ... That may be awhile.
- Drink Name: None
- Song: "Bad Friends" by Toshihiko Seki & Hirata Hiroaki -- soooooo canon it hurts. They can fight in battle together, they can smoke together, they can play mahjongg together, but man they cannot stay friends for more than a few minutes at a time.
- Smoke was taken literally moments after Sanzo/Moon abandoned the group in the manga, and Gojyo/Smoke's exact words were that he'd have punched Sanzo if he hadn't had his hands full. So, upon seeing Moon for the first time, Smoke did just that. Unsurprisingly, Moon didn't want to see Smoke again after that.
- Much journal-teasing later, Smoke mentioned for at least the second time that he knew "Moon's" real name because two guys they both knew (Hakkai and Goku) said the name when the Wilderness had changed to "a city" (Adstringendum). Moon took this as a cue to go to the Wilderness in search of the two men, but Smoke knew he was crazy for trying and so followed him. Moon had never been to the Wilderness before so he didn't understand the way it changed; when they got there, it was a ballroom. Moon insisted on hearing the names of his supposed friends, but the sound was still inaudible to him. They broke down the sounds first as Go+ku, then Ha+k+kai, but Moon wasn't doing so hot and Smoke was worried he'd flicker entirely - so they did one last name, skipping over Smoke's real name to San+zo. After that, Smoke had to shoulder-carry Moon out of the wilderness.
- They haven't spoken since.

Lin (Soi Fong of Bleach)
- Met? Yes, once -- but has not spoken with via journals!
- Character: Sanzo lol for utter keysmash-worthy frustration
- Respect Level: None for her directly. Smoke only cares about her well being for 2 reasons: because Bastet cares about her for he-can't-guess-what reason via a canon relationship, and because Lin was hired as a guard. Since Bastet is the head of the guard, she cares about all of her subordinates.
- Drink Name: None
- Song: n/a
- Smoke was assigned to patrol with Lin one afternoon by Bastet. In the course of that one afternoon, Lin proved to be at least as frustrating as Sanzo is canonically. She had no sense of self-preservation and she tried to imply that she knew Bastet better than Smoke did, when she was only recently hatched and Smoke had known Bastet for just over a year. He tried very hard to make friends with her, but she rebuffed him at every turn.

Fugue (OC of The Fishbowl's Plot)
- Met? Yes, a couple of times - not recently
- Character: The Villain Behind Kougaiji (Gyokumen-kyoshu and Ni Jienyi) -- note: this is Smoke's opinion
- Respect Level: He really, really distrusts Fugue - but the one he had such a falling out with died and was reborn, coming back without his memories. Smoke's standard practice of giving people second chances is being stretched to the limit when it comes to Fugue.
- Drink Name: None
- Song: "New Divide (acoustic version)" by Linkin Park. Preeetty much the whole song. Say no more, say no more; meta, meta! XD I say the acoustic version because it's really haunting - and makes me think of Fugue literally singing it lol.
- At first Smoke just thought Fugue was a Greeter like any other Greeter - a little on the weird side - and he just happened to have a journal. Smoke hit Fugue a couple of times during Paintball and that was how Smoke made enough money to open the tavern the first time.
- Then, Fugue tagged along when Smoke and Ghost went to Rivelata - and found the basement full of bodies, including Drake. For Fugue, seeing his Head of the Guard dead like that was too much to handle. Smoke wasn't happy about it either, but he still didn't think Fugue was all that dangerous.
- What changed Smoke's opinion was when he got stuck on the Fourth Floor with Ghost - Smoke doesn't remember Ghost was there - and saw Fugue there. For meta reasons I won't say what he saw, but he didn't trust Fugue after that.
- When Ghost "died", Smoke blamed Fugue - publically, over the journals. Even now he can't remember why he ranted over the journals at Fugue. He kind of guessed that the memory-crystal-like punishment that he got afterwards was due to that, which only solidified his assumption that he was right all along. The punishment was short, magenta-pink hair and maternity clothes in his closet.
- When Fugue returned without his memories, it was all Smoke could do to contain his frustration. Right now, Smoke still doesn't like Fugue, but he also doesn't trust Fugue - memories or lack thereof.
