*eating slice of cake*
One of my coworkers is a cakesmith. That is, she makes ingeniously creative, edible cakes, and brings them to work. You may have seen one of them posted on
Beedoo's blog...
(which I maliciously hijack as illustration)
I have seen the most elaborate of cakes by now, but today's version really takes the.... uh, cake.
It was for a pregnant coworker, and was shaped as a pregnant woman, complete with a realistic distended belly. Imagine my surprise to discover double-layer yellow cake stuffed with raspberry filling. Cutting a slice from the pregnant belly of a cake, oozing with raspberry jelly, is a little sick. Amid the double-t(c)akes, I overheard a number of entirely inappropriate comments. /
Last night I finally got around to watching an absolute classic documentary, which I recommend heartily to bird people, San Franciscans, and normal people who enjoy watching documentaries about very strange things.

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill is an amazing film about a guy who adopts a flock of non-native parrots and hangs out with them in downtown SF. I've been to the city three times now and it was fun to recognize most of the places pictured. In fact, I was walking up Telegraph hill when I injured my knee most recently. But aside from pointing out landmarks, it's amazing to just watch these
wild, personable birds and their wild, slightly less personable companion. And make sure you don't miss the surprise ending./
