I was looking through news stories on my RSS reader tonight and I came across a few interesting ones: Taking the award for best title is the one called,
Forecasters Warn of Flooding in Ark. Since when is Ark. the abbreviation for Arkansas? Another story out of good ol' Ark. concerns
an exploding meat packing plant. I can just imagine now all the PETA propaganda that will spawn. Another idea they like to push is that milk causes excess mucus. This was something I actually believed until the other day when I bothered to look it up and discovered it's a
crock of
shit. Anyway, the story that really takes the cake for absurdity is that of the Iraqi translator
who's being denied a green card because he was part of an organization that fought against the government of Saddam Hussein back in Iraq. That organization was the KDP, which was determined to be an undesignated terrorist organization (for the purposes of this man's immigration case) by the drones at the Department of Homeland security because it, conducted full-scale armed attacks and helped incite rebellions against Hussein's regime, most notably during the Iran-Iraq war, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. You really can't make this stuff up.
I hope Jon Stewart gets wind of that last one.
