#1.  Hey Linds, guess what?  I'm almost out of lotion.

#2.  My son is getting a tooth.  He bit down on Austin's finger yesterday like he usually does and Austin felt something sharp.

#3.  The Campaign.

Yep.  They did it.  I knew they would and they did.  They looked at the map, saw the river go right to Ussura, and decided to take the river the entire way.  This, in spite of a note from Dominique reminding them (among other things) that time was of the essence.  It may have something to do with the fact that not a single one of them thought to check out the compass to see where they need to go in Ussura.....they figure they will just get to Ussura and then find him.  Sigh.   However.  I found in the module a sentence that says the boat that they are going to get a ride on is specifically a river vessel, and would not survive in the high seas.  It also says that the captain won't go to Ussura, that he will take them to a place in Eisen and won't go any further east.  It's much too hazardous.  So, there you go.  I had missed that before, but since it is what I decided anyhow, it works.  They also think that they should avoid the forests in Eisen.  It turns out that they are right.  It also turns out that they won't be able to do so.

So, they got their carraige from Dominque that they had requested.  And realized that they don't know how to drive it.  Matthew did a fair job untrained, and they got on their way.  They stopped at a rat-trap way-side in about an hour out of town for the night, where there was a very surly innkeep (he isn't that bad when he has had sleep, but he was on the graveyard shift and not especially happy about it.) and his wife, who cooked them a lovely breakfast.  They got way-laid by some overzealous army guards and taken to the commander, who was sorry they had been bothered and sent them away.  Just when they were leaving, Chevalier, captain of the Musketeers, Porte'd in to have them arrested.  Galliard, commander of that particular army post, doesn't like to be told what to do without good reason, so while they were arguing, the quartermasters who were resupplying their units from the stocks in the barn, tried to stop them.  Alas, their swords are more decorative than functional, and our heros escaped.  Guy (Austin) was recognized by one of the men, who is going to report back to Remy that he was seen.  ( Guy heard, as the carriage was making it's exit, one of the men saying "tell Remy")  Technically, it's more likely that a musketeer would know him than one of these quartermasters, but who knows, really, where these guys come from, they could be anyone.  Besides, no one called me on it, and I needed it in there so that Austin's background stayed part of the campaign.

They camped for the night off the road behind a stand of trees.

It ended up being a decent re-introduction to combat, although I didn't feel as ready as I wanted to feel.  I suppose it wasn't bad for my first time as GM running combat.  We aren't playing next week, which is great because I have  a lot of research to do.  I need to figure out how fast they can travel on foot, on horse, in the carraige, and on the boat.  I need to figure out options for what I think they will do with the carraige when they realize they can't take it aboard ship, if someone will store it for them or buy it from them.  I need to figure out if they can take the horseS aboard ship if they decide they want to do that.  I need to figure out how far it is to Ussura.

Oi, back to work.
