Here is the main issue I am having with the next leg of the campaign.
They need to get to Montegue, and have a compass that points them towards where ever he is. At the moment, that is extreme northern Ussura. So they have two options. They can go east from Charouse and cross the Weissenberge Mountains into Eisen, which will eventually take them through the Schwartzen Forest, over a river to one of two decent passes through the Dracenberge Mountains to Ussura and onward to Montegue. Or, option two, they can get a boat on teh Dochain River south of Charouse so they don't have to go through the Weissenberge Mountains.
Here is my issue. They are supposed to go through the Schwartzen Forest regardless of which way they take. According to the module, there are two forests, one on the Montaigne side of the Weissenberge Range and then the Schwarzen Forest. And traveling by river "allows them to bypass one of these, but not both". Except....the river runs all they way to The MIrror Sea east of the Crescent Empire. So............why would they just not take the river all the way to Ussura and go striaght north? The only thing I can think of is that the compass points them north, and to take the river that far adds many miles to their journey, and they have to travel through Ussura which is, by all accounts, hostile. Except it isn't, not in the south. Well, relatively speaking.
All I can figure at this point is to use the compass to emphasize that they have to go north. And the river doesn't go that way.
Suggestions?
