Consolidated Works is proud to present Negativlandland, a visual art, video,
installation and live performance exhibition by the “cultural jamming” group
Negativland.
In Negativlandland, you’ll peer into wrecked cars, get your fingers in the
dirt, discover the secrets of Howland Island, learn how to make your own noises
on the Booper, view many brand new video works, hiccup with rabbits, and, on
March 10th and11th, come to Con Works to see Negativland live in two very rare
Seattle appearances. Negativland will present the Northwest premiere of a brand
new stage show entitled “It’s All In Your Head FM”, a two-hour-long
stereophonic look at monotheism.
Is it now doing more harm than good? Christianity and Islam are this year's
featured religions as Negativland asks you to contemplate some rather complex
ideas about our brains’ beliefs in "documentary-collage-theater-of-the-mind"
form.
Negativland’s work poses questions about the nature of perception, belief,
media control, ownership, and propaganda. In this noisy exhibition,
Negativland might be suggesting a theme park catapulting us into deconstructed
attractions of the gallery as multi-media entertainment destinations. The
exhibition takes place in conjunction with the group’s 25th anniversary and
will feature the collective’s recent visual work as well as their trademark
sonic work.
