Oren wasn't really one for these uptight little "formal gatherings." He was more for the "spike the punch and throw up after" kind of get-togethers, you know?
Disappointment written all over his face, the man wasted no time in taking the first available seat, apart from the crowds. There he sat, slouched against the back of those god-awful rickety chairs, his legs spread apart with his feet firmly planted on the ground. Armed with pencil and paper, he looked back and forth about his company, tapping his worn out eraser on the notepad tirelessly. The notes he took were about as bland as the grey-ass walls and the grandma's-bathroom tiled floors.
If this was a party, then some party. Leave it to some old, grey politicians to make the School's first big fiesta a flop.
"God!" he groaned as he threw his head over the back of his chair and stared up at the ceiling, eyes boring into the lights (or vice versa). Like his editor was going to want a story about this. 'Headline! The School brings a bunch of boring shmucks together to faff about and look confused for an hour!' Yeah, right.
Oren wondered if getting smashed beforehand would've made this thing more exciting. It probably would have, he thought.
Rory had been toying with the idea of walking into the building while invisible. The only draw back was that she hadn't yet managed to work out how to consciously make herself invisible. As such, she ended up just walking into the room as herself -and completely visible.
She was pleased to see a number of people sitting around, and a few already talking and she couldn't keep the broad grin off her face. She spotted one person, sitting with a pad and looking rather bored. Might as well start there.
Rory made her way over to the dark haired male, smiling the whole time and with a slight bounce in her step. "Well, hi there." Her usual warm tone for greeting new people coming through thickly in her voice.
Oren cocked his head forward a bit and briefly looked to the side, blinking a few times to adjust his eyesight. Rubbing his right eye, the man leaned forward a bit before looking up at the little Miss Happy-Go-Lucky-Sunshine-Forever who had just skipped up to his side.
Oh, social interaction. So much for the shut-eye that he had planned to get.
He sighed a bit before giving a wry, half-hearted grin. "Hi there," he said, offering a weak wave of his hand as he greeted her. "Can I, uh... help you?"
