Prologue: This series showcases all the Fabrics from each state in India. Some could be something I could drape on or wear; and for some of the states it could be just a home décor item. It all depends what the state's fabric is. Hope you enjoy this journey to the colorful world of Indian Fabrics.

Next up is from a state from North India - Jammu & Kashmir

A fine wool as fine as a silk that comes from Changthangi Cashmere Wool is the traditional fabric of the northern most state of India - Jammu & Kashmir. Just like the state is the crown of India, this is also a jewel in the land of fabrics.

Although the fabric is renowned for shawls made from it, we get beautiful sarees often with detailed embroidery known as Kashida. Due to the mix of Silk and Wool, the saree has a slight sheen only giving it a matte finish. This "Soft God of Kashmir" made it's way into my home when I found this marvelous beauty at a handloom exhibition in India.

In it's navy blue and white combination with colorful prints in blue, white, pink, black and brown; this draped daintly and softly around me. I paired them with pearl necklace and earrings and color coordinating bangles on my bracelets. Wore this for a Durga Pooja event.
