Prologue: This series showcases all the Fabrics from each state in India. Some could be something I could drape on or wear; and for some of the states it could be just a home décor item. It all depends what the state's fabric is. Hope you enjoy this journey to the colorful world of Indian Fabrics.

Next up is from a state from West India - Gujarat

The tie and dye technique also known as Bandhani art work gives us patterns in vibrant colors celebrating Indian festivities. This is a prominent technique in the western states of Rajasthan and Gujarat in India, but I picked this for Gujarat for my post.

Bandhan means ties; and essentially the saree is tied in knots followed by filling colors giving a unique look with beautiful dotted prints. The higher the number of dots in an intricate design, the expensive that saree becomes. These dots come in various patterns such as elephant, peacock, or geometric forms of flowers, squares etc. on sarees made of various materials such as cotton, georgette, cotton-silk blends, crepe, chiffon and resilient silk variants.

This one I wore for Diwali last year is 20 yrs old and still has a refreshing new look every time I wear it.

Here are our celebrations from that party.
