13 - Adults can be fun, too!

Gilligan's Island hails from a long-lost TV era when full and absolutely catchy theme songs were written solely for the opening and closing credits of non-HBO series. I think it was my grandmother that first introduced the series to me, and I absolutely loved it. Just as much as My Little Pony. I used to rush home every afternoon afterschool to watch it. The black & white episodes confused my then, young (probably 7-8 year old) mind, but no more than VHS confuses children today. Slapstick comedy, however, is timeless. Of course, Gilligan was my favorite and the sole reason I was able to sit through a whole episode without getting bored. But after a while I started to like Mary Anne and The Professor. LOL, come to think of it, they were probably my first true 'ship!

Anyway, the reason its on my list is because at a very young age, I realized that I could like characters that weren't in the same age range as I, animated, nor on a designated children's show. And it also taught me that, hey, not all adults are parents or teachers or some form of authority! They can be just as silly and playful and fun as kids!
