I posted the rest of my photos of the trip to Australia on Facebook plus a few funny ones on Tumblr. I'd love to talk a little about my first trans-oceanic, trans-hemispheric vacation, but things are pretty shitty right now at work and I just want to sleep and forget about this shitty world.
But before I seek the oblivion of sleep, I just want to say people are really a lot nicer in Australia. This even while living in stressful environments and apparently getting drunk all the time and in some cities, trapped in Dallas-like traffic every weekday. I don't know if I just happen to live in only the shitty racist murderous parts of Texas, and I visited Melbourne when everyone was in a good mood, but at the time, everyone was so friendly and respectful and went out of their way to be helpful to the elderly or mothers or tourists, and there apparently haven't been gun-related massacres in decades, and a young woman could jog at night in the streets and had a fighting chance of not getting raped, and basically you felt that unlike in America, only the animals were out to get you, not the humans. And if you think I'm kidding about the animals, we had a scare with a very large spider on the ceiling of the house that not only dodged all efforts to kill it, it actually spun a line to the ground and then started chasing its attackers before someone finally got it.
I know I was screaming bloody murder.
I'd love to go back and live there, but I have a feeling as soon as I do, everyone in Australia will suddenly get on the conspiracy to make my life miserable. So I will stay here in America, with the evil I know... for now...
