Hello everyone, I'm currently stationed in Iraq serving my 7 month tour of duty. I'm at Al Asad and that's basically as much as I'll say for the obvious reasons. I got invited to join this livejournal community while I was out here and I thought it was pretty cool.
I'm a Marine but recently contemplating my decision. I don't know if I made the right choice by enlisting. Basically it's a difference in lifestyles. The kind of person that I am, the way I think about things, completely goes against the way the Marine Corps works. I'm not saying the Marine Corps' way is incorrect, I'm just saying it's not really for me. I'm great at my job though, I'm currently holding three billets, and I can pretty much handle anything but nothing here interests me. It's a pickle of a problem but oh well. I've still got a little over 2 years to go in my contract so all I can do it suck it up.
I'm originally from New York City. I believe it's one of the greatest places on earth. I use to think it's the best in the world but after traveling and meeting different people, I've gotta say that there are some things you just can't find in New York. All in all though, I'm a city-guy at heart. OH, and I'm 19 turning 20 soon (Just thought I would throw that out there for whoever cares).
Well, I don't know. I big on family and most of the friends I've made so far in my road of life have been shit-bags. Let me rephrase that: most of the people that I've met BEFORE I joined the Marine Corps, have been shit-bags. I truly believe that my Marines are awesome friends and they're not backstabbing assholes. No matter what's happened between my Marines and I, they've always helped me out.
