un_love_you prompt # 08 [I'm cruel.]. It's amusingly amazing on how I concocted this one in more or less than 20 minutes while I struggle with my other unfinished works for months. The title wasn't meant to be permanent but I thought it fit the piece so it remained unchanged. Or rather, I was just too lazy to think of something more brilliant. *laughs at self*
Disclaimer: They own themselves and I own myself. Fair enough.
If only he wasn’t smoking that very moment, Ruki would’ve openly showed his grin.
He was in a café with Kai when he happened to look out the window and saw Aoi and his new lover pass by. They were holding hands, laughing at some joke one of them must’ve cracked, and looked very much in love with each other.
Too in love with each other, Ruki noted, but internally shrugged.
Kai, who also saw the same people he did, almost choked on his pie. “Did you see that?!” He exclaimed.
Ruki shrugged. “A new lover, I guess.”
“But it’s only been a week! A friggin’ week since the both of you broke up!” Kai continued to show his disapproval by ranting. “Aren’t you the least bit bothered by how… how easy it was for him to find a replacement?”
“Not really.” Ruki replied coolly, crushing the remnants of his cigarette on the ashtray provided. “We didn’t last long but I sort of know how his mind works. The spectacle we saw out there is none other than his idea of revenge against me.”
“But why?” Brows knitted, Kai said the first thing that came to mind. “For breaking up with him?”
“Probably.”
Kai contemplated for a while before speaking up again. “But isn’t that being really childish? And do you think his new lover has an idea that he’s merely being used?”
Ruki lit a new cigarette, took a drag, puffed. “I wonder…” He said with a smirk that suggested something along the lines of malice.
“If that’s the case, then he expects you to be hurt by all this…” Kai trailed off, nodding his head in grim understanding afterwards. “Well, are you?”
“Why should I?” Ruki asked, voice reeking of arrogance. “It’s not like what he’s doing now wasn’t done to him before. Only I never told him.”
