There is no safe place, not in this world, not in her body.
It tears her apart and flows out of her. She can’t control it, can’t contain it; can’t even protect it from all the watchful eyes.
Daddy demands it, power up the merry-go-round and don’t even get a ride.
She thinks maybe in Gabriel’s arms is the safest place she’s ever been, and then he slices her open. It’s not because he wants her power, he already has that. It’s because she forgot the lesson she thought she learned so long ago.
Safe is not something she gets to be.
