where dreams are made

so many people find the anonymity (not to mention the overabundance of The Best and Brightest with world-swallowing, earth-shattering dreams) of New York City liberating. it feels for them like a place where they can define themselves as whatever and whoever they want to be; a place where they can do anything without fear of reproach; a place where possibility and probability are mutable. so why do I find those same qualities so oppressive?
