friday and saturday were definitely excellent. met up with melissa tillery, steve and emily, kept the spirit of chuck e cheese alive through fort-making, ate dead creatures of the sea, and then we headed over to molly's/ray's/ben's, which is absolutely the most awesome apartment ever, by unanimous vote. I've decided to move in when they move out. that, or move into a box in the backyard; we'll see how the english major goes.
the party was peachy - good people, good drinks and a less than good movie [cannibal: the musical]. come saturday morning I had my first experience waking up next to someone strange after a night of debauchery, but it wasn't even an interesting one, damn it! miss tillery and I crashed on the sofa bed after a very funny night.
so saturday we whiled away the afternoon in a surprisingly pleasant manner, heading to her place for a bit and then grabbing strange pizza [caeser salad dressing as a topping?] with matt and taking it to goucher to eat on sandy ungar's back porch.
that was a good way to spend a lot of the time until I met with my supervisor at smartish pace, who gave me tons of books to record and possibly review as well as submissions to leaf through. slightly intimidating work but hopefully confidence-building. I was knocked off my feet when he told me he loved my edits on the book review he sent me, the author of the book review loved my edits, and that all in all I really have a knack for it. while assuring me he wouldn't say it if he wasn't true, he told me that doing that well on a first assignment bodes well for me becoming the editor of a literary journal someday. I couldn't do a lot except blush and say thank you every time he took a breath - it took me off guard and it made my day. apparently the next step is to get me editing a good deal of the content for the new version of the website, which will actually get me a credit on the staff page [a plus because, though I can definitely put editing book reviews on my resume, it's not double-checkable because book reviews don't generally credit the review editor]. so all of that is very exciting.
dropped by for one of nico's infamous parties on saturday night. I'll give her this much: she has some really hot friends. the end.
sunday meant back to bumming it, and I've gotten myself really down the past two days. I guess I can't stay happily quiet forever. not dealing so well with my reasons for being sad. not looking forward to the eight zillion hours I work this week, or the early morning staff meeting on my third morning of opening in a row. shoot me now.
