I'm so excited for poe. and so excited to not have drawing. god help me with a lit. seminar, arnie sanders, and photography all at once. yay life.

in other news, can I say how fucked up the world is? I don't even need to say anything about virginia tech yesterday; it's kind of self-evident, isn't it? and on top of that, someone put acid in a playground slide for grins and giggles or god knows what, and a two year old child has third degree burns from it. acid burns. who the fuck does that? and how is that ok on anyone's conscience? it's just beyond words.

but, at the risk of sounding hackneyed, I'm always shocked at the good in people that responds to the bad in the world. listening to students' accounts of going through the building where the majority of the shootings were trying to stop bleeding from bullet wounds with their clothes, or of the three boys who ran to the door of a classroom after the shooter left and blocked him from getting back in, even while he was shooting through the door... these other college students just like me, 19 or 2o, had their wits and compassion about them enough after having just been shot at to do something for other people. not to be self-deprecating, but I don't know if that would have been a part of me. I do think it's what makes humanity beautiful even while it's so ugly.

it's a world of doubles.

activism, hope
