Let's start this story on Saturday. I woke up at 5:30am to finish packing the truck and load my car on the tow dolly. Well, it took me and Dad longer than we thought, so instead of leaving at 7 like I wanted, it was closer to 8. But we managed to drive the Budget truck with car being towed, all the way to Maryland without incident! (Pictures on facebook.) We drove to Virginia, and were at our hotel by 11pm Saturday, and we left Sunday morning to drive the last few hours to my apartment. We could have done it all in one shot, but I wanted to make sure we were well rested for the move.
By 6pm Sunday, we had the truck unloaded, and by Monday night, we had most of the boxes unpacked and furniture in place! I took dad to the airport at the crack of dawn on Tuesday. Literally. We left before the sun rose, and we watched it come out. Quite the early morning. So my past few days have been some unpacking, and lots of TV watching. A mini-vacation, I guess. I've found the local library, and have been watching movies and past seasons of TV shows. I'm trying to find something to do for the 4th...a few ideas, but I need to make sure I know where I'm going. Oh, and by the way, I love my new apartment!! Pictures of that are on facebook too. It's big and there are lots of windows. I'm doing better living alone than I thought. I'm used to having a large family around, or room mates. But so far, so good! And the area is beautiful. I walked outside this morning, bracing myself for the heat and humidity, like you would in Florida. But the heat wasn't too bad!! And there was a breeze...you couldn't ask for more, except for winter.
Although I'm very frustrated about my lack of cell phone reception. So I'm thinking of getting a land line, but those seem expensive. So I've also thought about doing a phone through my internet, something like Magic Jack. But my computer is getting old and unreliable, so that doesn't seem to be a great option either. As soon as the first paycheck comes, I'll switch cell phone providers, get a landline and get a computer. That should solve all my problems. ;) Looking in to something like Skype or Vent, too. (Yes, I am thinking about Vent but I promise to never ever ever ever use it for WoW. No matter how hard Andy...or anyone else... tries to convince me to play!)
So, I think that's all. No friends yet. Work starts Monday. A difficult transition, yes, but since I've done a year in England, and I managed to survive being a continent and culture away, I'm sure I can make Southern Maryland work.
