Yesterday night I finished on 29,999 words on my spn_j2_bigbang . My goal was 30k but I think that one word can be forgiven ;)
I have 2 or 3 more scenes until the end of the first arc (which can also be called an overgrown prologue, really :P) and then I got 2 more arcs to go. If I let this baby play out fully, it'll be a damn monster! xD Oh, the fun of it *

I'm a bit jealous, I wish I could write thaaaat long fics...but who knows, maybe one day eh? I haven't even been posting for one year yet. Yieks :p

I'm so curious to see what wonderful story you will come up with, like bouncy bouncy curious. GL with writing. And my bet is on at least 100k yes :p

Well, we'll see if I can write that long a fic... I'm trying anyway :P My longest two fics so far both have 57k... and one with 55. But when I break the magical 60, I might start dancing! :P When I break 100... I think I need to bake a cake or something xD

It helps if you have an awesome beta writer who wants to know what happens next. ;)

Seriously, I wish I knew anymore, because I have a couple of long piece I can't seem to make any progress on. Still, I guess I would say don't think about how long the whole thing is, just write the next chapter, and then the one after that. It helps me if I don't have all of the details worked out in advance, so I can still find out what happens as I write, if that makes sense.

I got Cat for that. She'd constantly making grabby hands at me to hand over the next bit of fic ^^

I don't really plan ahead more than the big plot points (like the big twist and the ending). I usually decide what scene to do next when I finish the one I am writing. :P It's why I usually get longer than estimated because I tend to bring in scene after scene because they are organic like that and not because it's the next plot point.

I'm not a writer but I don't think it's a matter of not losing interest or not writing too much or getting stuck but maybe rather going too deep into detail so that the reader gets lost on the story somewhere in between.

personally I would set down what my ending should or is supposed to be and a basic idea on the storyline and go from there... that way I will have a ending and if I get stuck somewhere in the middle I can work around it.

also for getting stuck you have your cheerleaders, or not? :P

Hahaha... No, it's definitely a question if interest/stuck for me :P I have two fics with about 30k just sitting there waiting for me to pick them up but I am either not "in the mood" or I don't have a grip on how to best proceed next. I hope that I'm sensitive enough to know when I am starting to bore people or mess too much with the details (and I have someone reading it as I write to tell me in case I do)... I just need to actually finish the story! xD I have an ending, I have a general plot. Just sometimes you don't feel it anymore... Not right now though, I am still writing and yes, I got some people to kick my ass :P

*hugs* I've never written anything that long hon so i'm no use. I think about 55K is the longest I've written and that was for Nano. However, I have faith in you! And you know I'm here to pester you as needed...
