So I have all the details on my neighbors death now...

A little back story. So, I live in a townhome, right? We hadn't seen him in a while, although that wasn't unusual. He was 53 when he died of heart failure in his home. He lived alone. Had been married and divorced twice, no children. He was a sweetheart and a heavy smoker.

It's a really sad story, what happened, and mildely gruesome.

It was a little after New Years and there were 5 squad cars on our block. As I was exiting my garage I saw them carrying his cat out. It seemed pretty distressed and the woman wiped her hands in the snow after handling the cage which disturbed us. We made speculations, but we decided he had passed away.

Several days later the cleaning crew was at my house, and as they were leaving one of them came back in to tell me there were Haphaz men in gas masks and body suits going into the man's house. They were there the next day as well, scraping at his floors and removing carpet and furniture. I asked if he had passed away and they had said yes.

Then the owner of the townhome came by, waiting for the man's relatives. They've been here for several days going through the man's stuff.

Tonight they told my mom's boyfriend what had happened.

Apparently he had quit his job and was just chilling at home while trying to find another one. He died with his coat on and his keys in his hands. He had only about $30 left. Apparently the townhome owner found him because rent hadn't been paid. The smell had hit him and he locked the door and called the police. He was rotting in his house for 3 fucking weeks and no one knew. All of his christmas cards that his cousins and family mailed was still in the mailbox. The cat was alone for 3 weeks. The reason they had to take the carpet and flooring was because the cat was feeding off the man's corpse. All of this went on right next door to me. Just a thin wall seperating our homes.

I feel horrible. I feel sad. I feel so bad for Greg passing away alone, and I feel terrible for his family.

Makes you think...
