What the…? What on Earth is going on? Oh, goodness gracious where am I?

[There's the sound of frantic pacing, and then a small, rather unmanly shriek as Nathaniel looks through the porthole.]

A ship? A ship? I don't remember getting on a ship! And I certainly wasn't drunk last night, so this can't be some sort of awful mistake… Oh Lord! Have I been ( Read more... )

It's a ship alright; a cruise ship, with lot's of free shit and strange happenings.

We do appear to be stuck here whether we like it or not, though. Welcome aboard the elegante~

[A lady? Cursing? The gentleman in Nathaniel shudders, but he can't afford to turn down any help...]

Thank you, miss, though I fear that 'welcome' may not be the right word. One hears such terrible tales of what kidnap victims suffer, and from what you say I cannot help but feel this will be no exception. True, this is a lovely enough room, but I hardly fancy being trapped here for... for however long we are to be kept.

Eh, it's not bad here, really. I've been here over a month myself, and some have been here over a year. It's nice enough, when weird crap isn't going on.

[She cringes at being called 'miss', ugh. She has a gentleman here, apparently...]

My name's Sarea, Rea for short. How about you, new guy?

A year? Truly? But I have not heard news of any kidnappings, and surely if people keep being taken... ah, but if we are on a ship, then are people taken from many different countries? So then many people must be searching for us!

Ah, forgive me for not introducing myself, Miss Sarea. Nathaniel Ireton, utterly at your service.

[Nathaniel is somewhat surprised by how smoothly that came out. Clearly not being overwhelmed by looking at a woman makes it easier to talk to the fairer sex.]

Weeeeell...

[The lycan takes a deep breath before she begins explaining. Here's hoping he doesn't flip...]

People aren't just from different countries here, they're from different worlds and times. For instance, somehow I doubt you and I are from the same time period, with how you talk; the year's 2009. Annnd it seems that people back home don't notice; it's like time stops when we leave, apparently.

[She cringes at the 'miss' again.]

No miss; just Sarea. I hate that formal crap. Nathaniel, eh? Y'mind being called 'Nate'?

[There's a long silence as Nate processes that, and in the end he decides that Sarea's nerves must be suffering from being kept away from her home for too long,w hich has caused her to entertain these fantastic notions. But how to handle such a situation without making things worse? Nate has heard of how women are much more prone to insanity, having such fragile minds, so he could easily do more harm than good. Perhaps if he simply agreed... but no, that might make things unbelievably worse.]

Miss-- uh, Sarea... these notions seem quite unbelievable. I must make clear that I understand if you are somewhat confused after all that has happened to you... but you must try to hold onto what is real.

I'm sorry?

[The lycan takes a moment to process what he's said, growling under her breath. Oh no, he did not just insinuate that she was insane! She takes a deep breath, not wanting to let herself maul the man verbally.]

Listen, Nathaniel, things on this boat are not normal. You'll learn that for yourself soon. Don't believe me if you don't want to, but what I say is the truth, and it is real. You'd best lose that ideal that women are weaker both physically and mentally if you don't want to make enemies here.

[asjsklsgajdhajk oh god oh god he didn't mean to make her angry and now she's mad and oh dear Lord women are terrifying.]

I--I--I... oh, miss Searea, I can't apologize enough! I never, ever meant to offend, and I never thought to--to demean you in any way. It was just that what you said seemed so incomprihensible... By God, you say you are from roughly a century in the future!

A-a-and Nate is fine if... if you prefer.

[There's a pretty heavy undertone of please-don't-kill-me through the whole speech.]

Then I guess I am from roughly a century into the future, regarding your own time.

[Siiiiiiigh. She's not going to hurt you, Nate, chill. She just hates your attitude at the moment.]

A lot of things that might seem impossible happen on this boat, so what I say is true. Just keep that in mind and don't go looking for trouble.
