Watched episode 20 of Shiki last night. It was exceptionally violent/horrifying at times (specifically the way the villagers have started behaving...and it's not that I'm blaming them, it's just that Shiki is SO DAMN GOOD at playing around with shades of grey rather than reverting to a black/white sense of morality. I'm still feeling worried about certain characters (where the fuck is Akira and what's going on with Kaori?). ALSO ONE OF MY DARLINGS IS GONE FOR GOOD. I still don't know how this series is going to end. I've heard that a lot of manga content has been cut/reduced in the last few episodes and I guess with this most recent one I can feel it somewhat (the quality's still good, I just want to know MORE and be able to witness these events in greater detail). WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE HATE SEISHIN? Is it really that difficult to understand his motivation, or to feel sympathetic towards him?
YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, SERIOUSLY.
I think it defies the point of the series to reduce it down to that. One of the biggest strengths of this series is its ability to create sympathy in unexpected quarters. THAT AND TATSUMI'S OUTFITS (another odd one this episode).
I STARTED WATCHING OOFURI.
To everyone who told me I should watch it because I would love it, THANK YOU. YOU WERE SO RIGHT. I've seen four episodes so far and that's enough for me to adore it already (and it's giving my baseball knowledge an upgrade from minimal to adequate because I do want to understand what's going on) and if I say I SHIP IT then I guess the pairing is obvious? HOW ARE THEY SO ADORABLE. I CAN'T HELP IT, I LOVE MIHASHI. SO FUCKING MUCH. I cannot even express how much I enjoyed that hand-holding scene.
