In a spectacular display of just in the nick of timeness, Kate and I spent the evening watching the last five of the six hour run of Being Human, before it disappeared off the iPLayer - only just before in fact. When we were selecting the season finale, the first half of the season had already disappeared from the programme list.
This show is so worth all the hype.
And probably more than the hype, because while everyone who's seen it and knows me even a little has been telling me I should watch it, it seems that most of my fannish friends are all a flutter about some blue penis that [spoiler redacted]. Goes to show where their priorities are.
If you like vampires, you'll like this show. If you like werewolves, you'll like this show. If you like twenty-something Brits living in a houseshare while they try and figure out their lives, you'll like this show.
If you like humour and drama in equal realistic measures, full blooded three dimensional, flawed and utterly sympathetic protagonists, platonic bromance that you can make slashy if you push it, women who stand up for themselves against abusers and mere tossers alike, fantasy as a working metaphor for Real Life™ and believable special effects on a BBC budget, then you will love this show. At least, I did.
I'm just sad that we've now watched all there is to watch. Season two, please!
