The bad news is that we don't have any internet at home. Or telly (OK, we have the freeview channels, and BBC News 24 is what we watch more than anything else anyway). Or a landline. And we won't until Friday.

Not that I've been a barrista...
But Starbucks is such a late arrival on our shores, and so rare in the cities, that I live in hope that starbucks speak will never infiltrate the marketplace here.

but then again, I constantly annoy one of the local coffee places by ordering a "mocha", because they serve two alternate varieties of chocolate coffee, neither of which bear the name Mocha.

It's not what you get in cafes. It's a thick, whisked coffee milkshake. You can only buy the whisks to make them inside of Greece.

I see. The Starbucks version ends up looking fairly thick but only because of the vast amounts of crushed ice they put in them.

I do have a soft spot for smothering them in cinnamon, though I'd never dream of putting it in proper coffee, or indeed calling such a drink an "Americano" (friggin' Starbucksian. Ugh.)

Unless you're in Massachusetts, in which case a frappe is blended milk, ice cream, and syrup and you can't get them in most coffee houses.
