1) This is an April Fool's joke, implying the Evening Standard think rape is a joke.

2) Nick Erikson of the BNP actually did write the following posts on his blog:

Give Her a Slap! The truth is that Home Office figures have shown that there is an equal amount of violence perpetrated by men and by women, but the feminist media keep repeating the ( Read more... )

The BNP are a disgusting bunch of fascist thugs masquerading as a political party."

first the BNP are not fascist, perhaps you should educate yourself on politics?

its called democracy, you wouldnt be a pc fascist would you?

"Rape is sexual violence against a woman or a man, generally a woman. This kind of bullshit has to be challenged at every single opportunity."

generally a woman huh, have you any idea of the amount of rape in Prison, often black on white as reports from the USA indicate!
are you also aware of who commits a disproprtionate number of the rapes against women? the enrichers, that the BNP wish to protect you from, but then you wouldnt know that as you are a pc man hating liberal smuck who lets the press do their thinking for them!

"There is no such thing as a "lesser" rape. The person who wrote this crap deserves to be castrated with a blunt rusty axe."

there are degrees of the distress a `rape` may cause, and degrees of consent, to deny such a thing is insanity, castrated with a blunt rusty knife eh? why because the person has a different point of view than you, and you call him vile? people such as yourself are partly to blame for the number of false allegations which destroy thousands of lives of the innocent every year, cost millions and undermine the most serious cases.

I've read a number of BNP manifestos, and taken the definition of fascist under the broad definition that Mussolini used, they are most certainly fascist.

A huge pile of anti-racists misues the term fascist as a synonym for racist or nazi, this is incorrect, but the BNP are most certainly fascist according to their own policies.

I personally also believe them to be racist, but that's not a point being discussed.

In a democracy, we're all allowed to be sickened by how people vote-it freaks me out that a huge number of USians voted for Bush, it bothers me that people still vote Labour, and that the BNP does at times get a chunk of voters to turn out is quite worrying.

The answer is of course to highlight the idiocy their candidates espouse and to question their competence when in elected office, as frequently they do prove to be a waste of time even when elected.

Arguing that there are differing degrees of rape is one thing. Asserting as this candidate did that women should enjoy being forced to do something they don't like? That is vile.

And you may want to pay a bit of attention to the locale when talking about "undermining the most serious cases", it's not something we're unfamiliar with as a topic around here.

(@Debi: I'm guessing there's a team of volunteers checking blog mentions and similar, I personally feel it's best to answer the idiocy than censoring, but it's resolutely your place-this anon may be a simple anon, but the tone indicated otherwise)

You have just exposed yourself as an ignorant joke, if you take the current BNP manifesto you will find it no more qualifies as fascist than the current Labour party or the EU. in fact the Labour party and the EU meet much more of the criteria, but you rarely hear them called fascist - its just a silly lable the schmucks like you, like to use!

Actually if you bother to read what's said, I defined my terms quite clearly. I've also seen the Labour govt defined as fascist in the correct sense several times, including on a website I used to contribute to regularly.

What definition are you trying to use? Also, could you link me to the GLA manifesto for the BNP rather than just talk about it? I haven't looked at recent manifestos, you are at least correct there, haven't had cause to of late.

matgb is a conscientious political thinker, who tries to evaluate all viewpoints. He takes the time to read BNP manifestos.

Personally, I wouldn't wipe my arse with them.

There's only one "ignorant joke" here pal, and that's you. Do the world a favour and go for a swim with some rocks in your pockets.

"often black on white "... what has this do with ANYTHING?
a) it brings in iimplied or blatant racism.
b) it has absolutely NOTHING to do with any of the points raised.

Also, what proportion of the USA (male) population is in prison? Is it enough to balance out the much higher proportion of women:men raped OUTSIDE? Also prison rape is a dramatic cliche. It happens, but it's also one of the 'Great horror stories'.
Facts please.

re: so-called lesser rape.
Rape IS. Their may be degrees of suffering and intensity, but it is still rape. There is no 'minor' rape.
Comapre it to... oh, death. He died easily, and ahppily it was only 'lesser' death. She murdered them without violence, it was 'lesser' murder.
