It's funny - I recently read a book called "The Irregulars" which was all about Roald Dahl's time in the US as a part of British Intelligence, and just from the line about him and Charles Marsh, I have to wonder about this essay - not that I don't think Dahl could be mean and cruel and vicious (because you just have to read his books to know there's a dark side to him), but the essay/article had a certain viciousness of its own. The rebuttal is much more reasoned and very true, and it doesn't quite get the taste out of my mouth, but it's better
