This is fascinating, and I can't help but think, too good to be true. I'm sure people said the same thing about oil at some point- we'll never run out! It burns cleanly! It's a miracle! I'm sure thorium will turn out to do something horrible, too. /pessimism
Two long, good, kind of heartbreaking pieces:
A research station in Russia will probably be closed and its work destroyed because, in a bit of legal dancework, the work is priceless. That means a value can't be placed on it. That means it's worthless.
The story of killer whales in captivity.

I'm re-reading Primary Colors again. It makes no sense whatsoever how much of a comfort read that book is to me.
