Heh heh ... well, if that isn't a resounding note of love then I don't know what is! *g* Okay, in that case, I will not take this experience as being some sort of indication of becoming hopelessly old and therefore suddenly unable to function with technology.
Because seriously ... yes, I've managed to clean this up a lot (plus rescue needlessly wasted hard drive space -- yay!) but only at the expense of a LOT of time. Ugh! And really ... I've done this before! Databases are my friend. Clearly not this one, though.
You know those $##@# pre-set folders they've got on OSX, the ones you can't rename/delete? (Sorry ... again, as a long-time Mac user it's one aspect of Mac that just screams "Windoz" at me ... if I wanted a default-save folder called "Documents" I damn well would have made one.)*
Anyhow ... there's that tree of folders along the left-side of any folder-window, and it probably looks like this: -Desktop -Home folder (in your username) -Applications -Documents -Movies -Music -Pictures
Inside 'Music' you'll find a folder for iTunes. (This is not the iTunes application folder (it will be in 'Applications'.)
Look for: Music -->iTunes-->iTunes Music
Inside the iTunes Music folder is where you will find copies of probably anything you've ever opened inside iTunes, whether you wanted to or not.
I removed nearly 2GB of crap out of there last night -- all stuff that I already have organised and labelled as I want it elsewhere, not to mention backed up. There might be other places it's stashed stuff ... I haven't had time to hunt down other
( ... )
And I presume it's obvious that if it's something you want and you don't have backed up elsewhere, you'll do so before you purge, right? (I just realised I didn't mention that in my ranty directions above -- sorry!)
