Sunday lovely Sunday.
I woke up early and sorted out the gas. I made my first 'damsel in distress' call to the young man in the next boat - I'm sure he was thrilled to be my hired muscle at the crack of dawn on Sunday but sister was having a shower and she didn't care how she got hot water LOL! Anyway, I managed all the heavy lifting and removal of metal 'thingies' but couldn't budge the connection with the gas spanner no matter what I tried. My muscle man had a rough time of it too and had to go get his own spanner to budge the fixture and this made me feel a little bit better on the feminist front. Now how to explain the comic nosedive I made into the back of the boat while re-storing the empty gas cannister? The momentum of placing the cannister back down in the boat forced my face into the railing and smushed my glasses against my nose leaving two little cuts across the bridge ahh hah hah argh. I thought it was going to bruise up like a rugby player's but thankfully it did not. I am now fending off a scab with gusto.
Anyway, a quick rev of the engine and some wood on the fire and we were back in fully functioning business. I made it to the store and had lentil soup on the boil in time to meet my friend Catina who is having some troubles with work and friends. I think she really appreciated the chillaxing boat cruise in what can only be described as smashing weather for canal boats (full sunshine and autumn leaves) and we both definitely appreciated the bottle of red I opened to enjoy with the brie and olives. I hardly ever see Catina anymore but it's nice to know we are both there somewhere in the background of life when things get a bit weird for either of us.
Landing back at Alperton just before dark, I sent Catina back to 'the city' and set about baking the delish honey cake which is becoming the signature dish of the boat :) I shall remember to let the cake cool before turning it out next time LOL at the chunks which fell of the sides etc. Cooking is not my strong suit but I'm a good trier of things. Some Spanish homework and a roaring fire later, I tucked up in bed with my book and wondered about the week to come.
p.s. I neeeed the pattern for this
Space Invaders Jumper as I must knit it and wear and love it for my very own...
