Originally uploaded by inkognitoh By the time I made it out to Uxbridge last night there was about five minutes of daylight left in which to conduct my boat driving lesson in. We only made it through one lock and halfway between where we wanted to be in order to deliver me to the tube and home. LIfe is definitely slower on the canals :)

Anyway, I'm a natural at steering - ish - and will probably be able to bumble through the starting and stopping aspects of the adventure. My main concern at the moment is mooring the boat securely (I'm going to have builders arms from hauling the boat with the ropes and bashing steaks into the ground) and travelling through the locks without sinking it.

I figure that if I can drive and moor the boat in the the freezing cold, pitch dark,rain and wind whipped night-time, it should be a doddle in the day ;) If not, then hey it's only six months and I have a lot of warm woolly clothing heh ;)
