Food With Friends

My brain and body are lagging behind and it is the sheer force of willpower alone which has brought me this far this week. I am not at all happy about having to work five solid days in a row (and believe me they have been solid). No rest for wicked bankers who have all started making complicated travel plans immediately on returning to the office.

I met up with silverjet_allie last night to spend my hard earned Toptable points on a free meal at Awana. The drinks were criminally expensive but as I'd previously been to their sister restaurant Mango Tree, I knew what to expect. The banging headache I woke up with this morning may have more to do with the creaking of the rope from the coal barge lashed to my boat overnight than it did with the two glasses of wine and slightly spicy food we ate.

Allie came with a (late Christmas gift? Early birthday present?) random act of kindness from yokospungeon and sirroy. They had sent her a model of a Narrowboat called Ferret which was lovely, if not a tad strange ;) I have to say that I never was once given a model of a house when I lived in one of those.

Had a lovely late lunch with Alex26 and darling baby Andrew. He was a bit fidgetty but passed out to sleep after I'd slapped a big old bottom burp out of him :) I think she's immensely brave bringing her babe into the busy heart of Canary Wharf on a weekday lunch hour but she was dead excited to be out and about. I guess it must be mind numbing to be instantly housebound upon the birth of a child. Anyway, we've agreed to make it a weekly gig for a while as I enjoy the company over lunch (gets me out of the office) and she enjoys the escape in the monotony (gets her out of the house) and I get to see my 'nephew' lots. Win-win-win.
