Fic meme day 11
Over here in FicMeme land, time passes differently from everywhere else. It's like being in the tardis, only with more crossovers and fewer bow ties.
I have to share a few things that I'm excited about before I dive into the delicious vault for today's meme.
1. I ♥ Alexander "No Sock" Skarsgard. And all of True Blood. (Pam! Jessica! Lafayette! Jason! Heart their faces!) There are no words at this point, just squee.
2. I am totally on an HP comfort fic kick and it is so lovely. I don't think there is anything better in the world. Draco/Neville is my favoritest. He grows PLANTS and Draco is like a SPIKY CACTUS that needs CAREFUL TENDING or else he will WILT AWAY. (Yay that HP can still make me capslock after all these years.)
3. I still love toast.
4. And Dean Winchester.
5. And John Watson, in any era or universe.
6. And now also Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Ok, I think that's all for now.
Day 11. A fic that changed your perceptions of the characters
I like this day a lot because I feel like this happens to me all the time when I read fic, but the problem is I have a hard time noticing it when it's happening. The world that the story builds just crawls into my head and sets up camp and then 5 minutes later I'm insisting it's canon and can't imagine how anyone could think otherwise. The problem with that is I then have a hard time knowing what fic changed what perceptions because it's all chicken vs. egg.
But I can't really ever forget that the reason I know Spencer's daemon would be a jaguar is thanks to this story:
"She's so beautiful," Spencer had said quietly to Ryan, who secretly believed Spencer's daemon would be a dog of some sort, or some other smallish animal, like his own. As children, they'd grown up with Chaz and Salara changing in and out of shapes--dogs, birds, lions, every animal imaginable--but always staying equal. When Salara settled into her chosen Chinchilla shape, Ryan had been slightly disappointed. She wasn't elegant or fast or intimidating; instead, Salara was small, quiet, smart.
